Well, our '22 team and entire team philosphy is built on Dmen out. So on some level I get how the Avs prioritized having both Girard and Manson. You've got to have two pairs you can roll with, especially when your third pair gets 5-6minutes. That being said... Joe started it but we got extremely wing heavy on contracts before the time came to sign our 2C. I know CMac's the GM of record for both Nuke and Lehky but they signed on the 11th and 13th of July 2022 respectively. CMac took over on July 11th. I would assume Joe had been heavily involved in the negotiations up to this point so I'm not willing to blame CMac solely for where we are in a cap useage.

I think it's pretty clear given the timeline the Avs completely mis-calculated on EJ's willingness to move on, hence the fluery of contracts in early July for Nuke and Lehky. I believe Kadri held out until mid August hoping for the Avs to get their ducks in a row.
We could still have 2 pairs to roll with if we traded Girard. We could go with Toews, Makar, Byram, Manson, and it wouldn’t be hard to find a 3rd pair LD to pair with EJ. That’s what we did anyway because we didn’t have Girard for most of the cup run since he was injured

There has been so many, woulda, shoulda, coulda's in the past.

I prefer to use the past primarly as a lesson to not do the same bad things, but from then on... I like to use it as a reminder of when we were better. Or when trying to remind myself that it can always get worse. Outside of that, I find it more useful to discuss the present and the best way forward... especially since we all may or may not have the same goal at this point.

The point I was making is, I know Bednar has his faults, but it’s not all on him. If you believe that Maurice is a good coach, but you also agreed with me that if Panthers lost Bennett and Tkachuk, they also wouldn’t have that much success, even with Maurice behind the bench

And the point I'm saying is that Bill Zito would not have the same issues CMac has had. Period. It's that damn simple.

I'll be honest. I don't think Bill Zito would have had as much a problem if he'd been the GM of the Colorado Avalanche either? I think there was too much forced carryover between Joe and CMac. We changed our GM... but did we really? Is it really a different set of eyeballs looking at or just a younger version of the same eyeballs?

Just like the Avs changing ACs. They decided not to renew a contract... they actually didn't makea proactive decision on anything.

Viola bought the Panthers in 2013. Keep that in mind when looking at their progress. Since the day that man bought the team, they've been told to win and started making strides towards that. It takes time to turn an organization around, but VInny's done it.

They wouldn't have won in that situation, but that situation is pure fantasy. For one... Bill Zito is a god-damned champion. But he's a damn champion because he knows he's the GM of the Florida (Miami) Panthers. He would not have near the trouble CMac (in Denver) has in wanting to get players to go there. You ever wonder how many conversations CMac might have started about a guy who had a limited movement clause and was told no go? I don't, but from the way folks talk, Denver certainly is not a destination location for the majority of players. However, Miami is.

I have absolutely no doubts that BIll Zito would have fixed the problem better, sooner and at much less expense. He just has a lot going for him that no general manager of the Denver Avalanche will ever have.
Denver vs Colorado hasn’t had a problem compared to getting people to come. Most of their soter was good drafting and trades much like the avs

tactics was a trade
Barking was drafted
Bennett was traded tonflorida
Marchand was traded
Seth jones trade
Ekblad was drafted
Sam Reinhard was traded to florida
Verhaeghe Was signed as a free agent
Niko Mikkola Was a free agent and at the time not the player he is currently

This location location location thing needs to die Florida did a good job with the trades they made and the players extended their deals when they could much like most of the avs trades have worked…

Would you like a list of the players that blocked colorado to go to Denver?

Seth Jones never even considered us. Zero chance. Period.
Do you really think Tkachuk was coming to Colorado when Miami was available.

Many, many of their trades were people who had trade clauses.

Many of our trades are for people who do not or have limited teams.

Jack eichel almost was an av.

I don’t even think thachuck and Colorado patches cross

We have speculation he wouldn’t come to Colorado nothing was ever cobfie

Trade clauses. Really .. I expect better from you that’s a weak argument and you knowbit

Anyone see the snippet of an article that Drew Livingstone reposted on Twitter? Something about sensing Necas not being thrilled with his time in Colorado??

But we didn’t need Tkachuk, we had Mikko

I know Bednar isn’t perfect and he’s being criticized and maybe for a good reason, but I gotta ask you guys again, and I’ve asked this question before…

If we are comparing the Panthers who’s making deep runs year after year to Avs, answer me this. If Panthers lost Bennett to free agency, then replaced him with RyJo then Mittelstadt, then Nelson, and traded Tkachuk for Necas, do you honestly think Panthers would be this successful and make the finals 3 years in a row?

Remember, if they lost Bennett and traded Tkachuk it would be the equivalent of us losing Kadri and trading Mikko. I just don’t see how Panthers would win if they made those moves, no matter how good of a coach Maurice is

Brother guy. I just read your post and got pissed off. Bill Zito wouldn't be dumb enough to trade Kadri or Rants. That said, I would be dumb enough to trade Kadri or Rants. This logic makes the area where my perbix used to be hurt (remember I had to get my perbix removed during the cup run).

Man... I admit I'm a hockey idiot... but even I can see they play the game and impact it in completely different ways.
I get that, but still Mikko was our Tkachuk, and the fact is, no matter how lazy Mikko looks at times, he still puts up more points than Tkachuk regular season and playoffs

I think CMac went to have his perbix removed, they mistakenly removed his brain instead

If Mikko played the game anything near like a Tkachuk does, I don't care if it is Matthew, Brady or Keith... he'd still be an Avalanche, just saying.

You’re probably right on that one, but another problem is, we didn’t trade Mikko and replaced him with someone who plays the game like Tkachuk. We replaced Mikko with someone maybe not lazy but soft winger who’s not really a playoff performer

Cale is s victorian-era frail boy with low blood iron levels that faints when he hears "worrying news from the continent". He also has frequent nose bleeds and can't go outside due to his pale complexion.
What you are saying is that Cale is Alexei Romanov
