Hartman and/or Trenin.

Hartman is 30, has 2 years left at 4 mil, and has 10 points in 34 games.

Trenin is only 27, but he has 3 years left at 3.5 mil and only has 6 points in 34 games.

It will be tough to make this deal in-season, though. Cap space is pretty tight for Minnesota right now and they don't have much else they could move. I'd rather not retain on Mika.

Ideally, we could swap Quick at 50% (625k) for Fleury (2.5 mil) to make the cap work better, but Fleury has an NMC. The only other options would be to swap Smith at 25%, Vesey at 50%, or Carrick, for one of Gaudreau or Johansson. Johansson is a pending UFA.

Mika + Vesey@50% for Hartman + Trenin + Johansson would save them 600k overall. Swapping 3 players for 2, the extra cap space should give them enough to fill that vacated spot.

Minnesota would have to add something else to this deal, I would think, to balance the value.

It's too bad we can't trade for buyout/retained cap space. I've been saying for years that they should do this to create more flexibility in the system. If we could trade Mika for Parise + Johansson + futures, for example, that would work perfectly for both sides. They would actually gain 870k in cap space without majorly upsetting their roster, and we'd only be left with an 833k cap penalty for the next 3 years.
1 & foremost that capsace is to pay Rossi and Kaprizov this summer. Wild have made it clear they will not take on any long term contract without knowing what they are Paying Kaprizov. 2nd, a team whose in 2nd place in their division isn't trading a player like Hartman.

Orlov will be 34. I wouldn't mind Gavrikov but not at a crazy UFA price. Provorov is someone that could potentially blossom into what he was supposed to be... under the right conditions... but do we believe that will happen with this org?

KAM will sit around where he is now. He didn't do himself any favors, so far this season. 3 years 4ish M

our defense has not looked good nor produced under Lavi and Housley.

Orlov is likely to get a 2-3 year deal, that's almost ideal honestly. Play him with Schneider and let him rove around.

You could convince me of Gavrikov over Provorov but I see this teams defensive prospects as guys who should be able to play solid defense. Schneider. Emery. Mancini. Fortescue. None of these guys are going to be huge point producers. I'd lean towards Provorov because I think his style of play would provide a unique wrinkle but that's just me.

Get rid of Lindgren and Jones. This is a must.

Maybe add a Gavrikov or Provorov but they'll probably get 5-6M

Gavrikov is actually a good defensive defenseman... has decent size and is improving offensively. I like him a lot but he's 29 already.

Gavrikov Fox
KAM Schneider
Vaak Mancini

is that good enough? meh. but Gavrikov is a massive improvement over Lindgren. It'd be reliant on KAM Schneids regaining form/realizing potential. Dont see that happening with the current coaching staff though.

Gavrikov is awesome, I would love to see them target him, but he's definitely getting more than 6M. elite defensive defenseman.

You may be right. If anything, it's probably more of an off-season deal.

Hartman and Trenin are both on long term deals, so if we take both, adding Mika doesn't really impact their plans all that much.

If the Rangers offload Kreider without retaining or taking a big contract back they could have $25-30 mil to work with when free agency hits. I suspect they will use a good amount of that on defensemen. They also might target a high functioning player like Rantanen or Marner though targeting and getting are two different things. Regardless I expect the Rangers are going to make some impact signings. As well there are several guys who could be pushing for jobs---if Perreault signs, Othmann, Mancini, Berard, Garand, Sykora. These will be cheap ELC and second contracts. If the cap goes up $5 mil or so as expected that's another factor.

If they want a Provorov, Pettersson, Gabrikov, Orlov---they might even be able to get two.

Here’s a pipe dream.
Austin Matthews might need surgery.
John Tavares comes off the books for the Leafs this season.
Toronto looks very similar to NYC. In fact many movies and television shows that take place in New York City are made in Toronto.
Zibanejad to Toronto, 50% retained for the Leaf’s 2027 2nd round and 4th round picks and Matt Bennington Salary dump.

I wish I had a burner account to post this silly post.

Apparently this guy is a very well connected Nucks insider?

Cant wait to trade some young pieces for Miller. And then still have Mika and Kreider on the roster.

Whole thing a disaster in the making. Probably will make us just good enough to just miss the playoffs and get a garbage draft pick.

Wouldn't it be something if in the summer, Drury had a trade lined up of Miller for Zibanejad and both teams discussed it with the players only to have it fall through? That would somewhat explain the Zibanejad body language up to this point and Miller's absence from the team where he needed time away. Perhaps both guys were ready for a fresh start and it fell through for some reason?

Maybe that information leaked in to the dressing room to start the season so beyond the Trouba situation that lingered, maybe this Zibanejad situation also negatively effected the teams morale as they knew Drury was looking to completely change the culture?

NYR need a deal not unlike Gaborik to Columbus for Brass, Dorsett, Moore.
Like I said
Mika 50% retained to VAN for scraps Raty, Juulsen, Forbot Desharnais cap dump
if nec, bring in ANA to retain further another 1.75 per
final cost of zib is 2.5
that is totally useful for them regardless of what does/does not happen

If JTM wants to come here, presuming we can swallow the price/currency, let that be a separate transaction

I want zib out of here before yesterday
Last nite's game, 5-ish mins, someone from Bs rushed from the red line, got a primo chance vs Quick. Replay showed Zib making either ineffective/half assed effort to check.

50% retention for 5 years on Zibanejad is absolutely batshit insane

I don’t know about a lot of pieces…. JTM makes sense in a Mika type swap.

We need a LHD. They don’t have any worthwhile that they’d move
