I wouldn't even look at wingers in the draft with our 1st round pick if I were the GM. In fact, I wouldn't even look at them in any draft ever with our first, unless we had a second (lower) first round pick. I would focus on Center and Defense. The second round and later can be for wingers. 4th and later for goalies.

Drury should call up Pat Verbeek again and see what he wants for Mason McTavish. Cronin has made that room absolute hell and everyone has tuned him out. Dude has been a psycho coach going back to his college days.

People have clamored for the next Sam Bennett? Well, there’s a former top-4 pick stuck in a 3C role in a bad situation. Bit of a prick, plays heavy, and knows how to generate chances between the circles.

The rest isn’t an easy fix when they need talent everywhere. They have two or three dmen worth keeping in Fox, Miller, and Schneider. The rest is a mess, and it’s being exposed because another coach can’t get this team to play as a cohesive unit 5v5.

They all hate Drury? Fine. Laviolette can’t do shit as usual? Fine too. Get rid of both.

We can trade all our vets and get a haul as someone suggested but it still does not remedy the fact that the younger players on this team are soo overrated. Laf has been non-existent and made some really stupid plays yesterday. Zac Jones is a bad defenseman and Edstrom is big but totally lacks finishing skills. FC is soft and quite honestly every time I see him take a hit you hold your breath. I am still waiting for all these great young players we supposedly have to start producing and btw the group in Hartford is not as good as some on this board make it seem.

Maybe Kreider will waive his no trade to go play with all his pals in Anaheim. he seemed real broken up when Trouba left. We havent heard from him since!

Cozens already got paid, but I'd really like to see if we could get a 23 year old C out of Buffalo. Contract could be a bargain at that price if it has the same effect as ROR, Eichel and Reinhart getting out of there.

YES! Never draft a winger again

If they really want to change the complexion of the team, they should be all over getting Cozens out of Buffalo. Not many teams can easily take on that contract, but the Rangers can. 23 years old, righty shot with good size. How many players have we seen get out of Buffalo and become elite? Kevin with a Y would probably love to add a seasoned vet like Kreider, but I doubt he would waive. If the cost was Braden Schenider, I would strongly consider it. Id trade just about anyone outside of Fox, Laf, Cuylle.

I agree he should be a target

Try Lafreniere on the top power play and you might be surprised. And Panarin had a 120 point seaosn last year, pretty comparable to Kaprizov no? We pay our goalie a lot sure, but he's earned it.

Id prefer not to buyout Meeka, but unless you can trade him what choice do we have?
Panarin isn't here for those 5 years though. Putting Laf on the top powerplay may earn him some more points, but what about his overall game? It's a problem right now.

Trading him. He’ll waive once Kreider is gone and pressure from fans, media and team increases imo

For what? No clue. I see Chicago as a possible destination. Maybe for Bertuzzi. Give them a center behind Bedard.

If Drury can finagle JTM type swap, great.
I think Chicago is a great fit. The cap hit is irrelevant to them. They get a center for their 2nd line and hope he can find his game.

What are Anaheims needs? I’d be willing to part with a decent amount for McTavish

This has been the most miserable season I’ve seen. Been watching my whole life. We’re not even halfway through the season and it’s practically over already. Not even a single high point to look back on. I guess Will Cuylle?

My cousins have half season tickets and haven’t been able to sell their two tickets to Jan 2 v Boston yet. They just gave them to me. Wild that is usually a high demand matchup esp on a Thursday right after new years. I started dating this girl seen her like 8 or 10 times. Dare I bring her to a free Rangers game? Will the vibes just suck? It’s pathetic I have to wonder if a free rangers game will be our worst date so far. Like if we get blown out shut out…

You got a bunch of mopers walking around doom and glooming this team right now, remove the sooks, bring the mood up in the room and things will get better for Laf. I'm hopeful they are looking for like aged guys to play with him. Panarin imo doesn't totally compliment the game Laf needs to play, they work together but Laf has always been more or a north south guy. It's why him Chytil and kakko worked.

After last season many fans on this board wanted Goody and Trouba gone no matter the cap cost.

Drury did not only moved them but he did it with no cap implications.

This season they wanted Mika and Kreider benched.

CK was benched. Mika is playing a smaller role despite no clear #1 center.

Fans didn't want the players dealt with kid gloves.

Drury has been firm with guys.

So how is it that Drury is some evil bad guy when he is doing what fans on here wanted done to the roster?

They moved Trouba, Goodrow, and Kakko yet somehow it feels they still haven’t made any progress.
Maybe our youth is overrated. They moved a lot of players over the years after the stanley cup final with a person who is coaching NHL now, Martin St. Louis.

it's more like, his failure in previous years is causing what we see now. the roster is poorly constructed. there has been a massive hole at 1RW ever since he traded Buch. And he never addressed it. He traded draft picks every year or got washed up Wheeler etc. He also never got a Finnish player for Kaapo to play with which, I don't know may not have helped at all but everything was worth trying when you have a failing #2 overall pick.
