I think any team in the league would take JT on their team. He's a 100 point player. And one team's locker room is another team's treasure. No one should be surprised if he's the Rangers real top target. Brady T just isnt realistic imo.
I can’t answer for 31 GMs in the league but what I will tell you that JT Miller was traded from the Rangers while Chris Drury was AGM.
There was a game against Montreal and at the end of that game JT Miller was challenged by Alexi Emelin and Miller skated away and ran behind the net to get away. Bad optics. Bad that none of his teammates came to his aid.
Ron Duguay showed the video in the post game and called him out for cowardice.
I believe Duguay might have been suspended by MSG Network for a month for it.
Gordon couldn’t wait to trade him.
He lasted one full season in Tampa after getting there and they moved him on.
That was a long time ago. People can change and maybe Miller has too?
But something is wrong with Vancouver’s locker room and Miller is involved.

Get rid of Drury. Then If you could get Zib to waive, send him to Utah for a package surrounding Hayton, center who works well with Lafreniere. Move Kreider for a ld that works with Fox. Trade Lindgren Vesey and Smith...see how she goes. Far too long we've been working in pieces to fit with Kreider, Zib etc, we need to work in pieces to suit, Laf, Chytil, othmann, jones ,berard, and Perrault

Drury being AGM during that time means nothing, Gorton sent the letter, and made the calls to deal these guys. Most here can acknowledge now that shipping JT out with the bathwater was a huge mistake. This rangers team needs an asshole veteran (probably 2-3 honestly) to whip them into shape and undo the damage done by our spineless veterans. I've been trying to keep an eye on the Vancouver dealings on twitter and one of my big takeaways is that JT would stick out like a sore thumb on the Rangers, but Mika and Kreider would feel right at home in the Canucks locker room.

Need to start over and build a good 5v5 team. Hopefully, Drury can accomplish this in the next few years while Igor is still in his prime.

I'm fine with sucking this year and next. Maybe we will win the lottery this year and draft one of Schaefer/Hagens/Martone. Sell Kreider, Zibanejad, Panarin, Miller, Lindgren, and Borgen. Load up on 2026 1st round picks and pray that we will win the McKenna sweepstakes.

McDavid is UFA after next season.

If any of these play out, we will be in great shape going forward.
Unfortunately, knowing Dolan, this is exactly what the Rangers WILL NOT do.

This team has gone from presidents trophy winner to potentially coin flip beating FLA with a healthy Fox to go to the cup, to unwatchable.
I get that down seasons happen. They have played a ton of playoff hockey and had long seasons the past few years….. we were due. The only real let down year was the devils series…… same problem is rearing its ugly head. This team leadership is too stale, too soft, and too unwilling to do the things it takes to win. There is no dirty/no dog in most of the top 6 DNA.
Keep Trochek.
Zibby likely stays unfortunately. At least for a while.
Trade Panarin get a haul
Trade Kreider get a haul
Trade miller get a haul.
Sign some smart vet UFA on good contracts that aren’t albatross long to plug some holes. Guys that are MEN. Leaders on and off the ice.
Trade for some skill/effort guys like Zetterlund etc
Extend cuylle long term.
Bring on Gabe, Berard, others that are deserving of a long look.
Dump smith
Dump vesey.
At least try to get hungry again by seasons end, even if it’s a shitty year.
Come into camp youthful and hungry.
Get a young impact D thru trade in the offseason. Someone who can shoulder the load and take some heavy lifting off of Fox.
That small frame can only get hit and beat so much before injuries derail his game For the rest of his contract

Preach. Hunger is the perfect word to describe what this team is missing. For whatever reason (there's probably a different reason for every player) the hunger is gone. Panarin sick of carrying the offense himself, Kreider sick of coming up short and watching his pals get traded away. Mika sick of playing the game of hockey when he'd rather be with his wife and kid. Trouba sick of captaining a team that wont be lead and being the whipping boy.

Im sick of watching it too, so Im glad changes are being made. It's not a tanking situation but like you said missing the playoffs this year wouldnt be the worst thing in the world as long as they can bring in players who will help them get that hunger back. I think it will spread like wildfire among the young guys when it returns.

Our defense defends like Phil Housley did as a player, by not defending at all.

I just wished our forwards played like Mike Peca did in the NHL. Hard hitting and defensively responsible.

I hate to make any assumptions without actually being on the inside of practices but you may have a legit point. Our defense has become even softer and our faceoffs have improved (with Peca)

Minnesota is doing just fine.
Our starting goaltender doesn't make under 4 million. Our 7m young winger doesn't put up a point per game. We don't have a Kaprizov to carry the team. Everybody talks about all these dmen that we can bring in, and they all cost money. Wild are doing this with #3-7 making less than 1.3m each. Faber's 8m starts when the big hit against the buyouts end.

I think he's probably going 1st overall, and therefore will be out of reach, but Schaefer would really be a huge piece for our team if we could get him. He's looking like the best D in the draft by a wide margin

Try Lafreniere on the top power play and you might be surprised. And Panarin had a 120 point seaosn last year, pretty comparable to Kaprizov no? We pay our goalie a lot sure, but he's earned it.

Id prefer not to buyout Meeka, but unless you can trade him what choice do we have?

I think Fla also had only 1 or 2
Rangers need to get bigger and stronger on defense, first and foremost. That has been a big takeaway of mine among the recent Cup winners.

Florida had Forsling and Montour as puck movers, but Ekblad, Kulikov, Mikkola and OEL off the scrap heap. Not one guy under 6'1 and Montour plays much bigger.

Vegas had no D under 6'1 on their Cup team

Colorado had the best pair in hockey than a bunch of guys we all scoff at in their bottom 4 (Eric and Jack Johnson, Josh Manson and Byram). Girard is tiny and was hurt midway through the playoffs.

Tampa Bay didnt have a defenseman under 6 feet on either of their Cup teams.

We have Fox, Lindgren and Jones who are all pipsqueaks. Miller plays like one. Schneider is terrified to play physical because he has no backup. Unserious team until they start adding some guys who will make other teams pay a physical price in our zone and can manage to get hit and not immediately cough up the puck.

I agree on getting a young center. Trevor Zegras seems to be the most available. I would think Drury would have interest there.

At a certain point it doesnt matter. The guys existence on the team is a detriment to winning.
guys under 6’1 or 6”2 200lbs on their entire roster they iced against us. They were a large ten overall.
Fox was hit after every 1 on 1, basically every time he touched the puck. He was also on a bum knee..
That kind of plays wears you down no matter how talented you are on a sub 6 FT 200lb frame.
Edstrom and Cuylle are welcome additions this season, but need more size and grit that have skill thru top 12 Fwds (mainly top 9).
I’d welcome a BT here in the top 6 tbh. Doubt it will happen though.
Trochek and laf are the only 2 that don’t mind when game turns nasty in top 6. The others wilt and go invisible

I predict Kreider will be moved for futures to a contender, that will then be used to sweeten the pot in a JT Miller trade. There are some fairly legitimate concerns with JT, but I think the team's play has driven the front office to a point where they are going to work hard to make it happen. Miller is a Type A, intense guy, who will both get on and defend his teammates. If the Canucks reach the point where they have to trade him for the room, he should be a Ranger.

I liked what Avery said on Chiclets. K'Andre & Chytil for JT. Maybe a 1st rounder. I dont care that JT is 3. Mark Messier was 31 when they got him. he's a 90-100 point all sisutations player. If he's available you do what you need to get him. especially for a team lacking vocal and on-ice leadership.
JT Miller wishes his wife loved him as much as you love JT Miller. JT can't get along with Pettersson? The Swedes are not very confrontational people. JT is an asshole.

Are you old enough to remember Messier at 31 years old? He won the Hart Trophy. You are quoting Avery? Every organization couldn't wait to get rid of him. Avery is also an asshole.

Agreed again. You also can't rely on Edstrom, Cylle, Berard, Othmann, Rempe types to be the teams muscle when they are still trying to get their NHL careers jumpstarted. You need veterans to back them up. Every team has them. But when they are suggested here, the pitchforks come out.

No one has to fight Tkachuk's battles for him. No one has to even fight Barkov's battles for him. It's a mindset and the rangers have had a piss poor one for a long time now.

JT Miller wishes his wife loved him as much as you love JT Miller. JT can't get along with Pettersson? The Swedes are not very confrontational people. JT is an asshole.

Don't "high and mighty" me when you are leading the charge to get Fox out of town lol. Id be talking about Tkachuk the way I talk about Miller if he was in anyway attainable. The team needs more assholes.

Avery was plastered all over my instagram feed yesterday because of chiclets. I nearly rolled my eyes through the ceiling.
