He literally said the opposite to what Pagnotta reported.
There will be no rebuild, not for quite a while. They will retool on the fly, make of that what you will.
Zibs will leave/waive in the summer. We'll get JT back, we will add certainly.
We can hope that Bread and Kaliev have chemistry.
Laf needs to wake tf up.
I'd also keep K'Andre, let's see him a full season with Fox, once Lindgren is freed.
I want a season like Washington recently. Bummed out season lands them Leonard, and they're playoff team without him.
Probably could make a dedicated thread for this, when it's confirmed
To keep him off market what is the number?
I mean we aren’t that far removed from similar stories being written about MacKinnon (like his war on carbs/pasta) either. Obviously if that’s going to be your gimmick it helps a lot if you are winning cups/finalist for awards…Wait until JT gives Gabe the evil eye. JT is not Messier. He won Cups with Wayne and without Wayne. He won playoff MVP in 1984 and league MVP in 1990. JT hasn't won anything in his career and he is giving Pettersson a hard time. JT is the leader of the Rangers. We are so f***ed. May god help us all.
RE your last paragraph - I still think Laf can build on last year and be a similar player to what Matt Tkachuck is for Florida.Staple is a f***ing idiot. Go back to covering the Islanders, Arthur.
I just said it in the PGT, but it's probably better for here. The MSG propaganda machine needs to stop spinning this team as if they're in the thick of the playoff race. They're the 7th worst team via points%, and it's ok to just admit this season is lost. They're the 2022-23 Calgary Flames from a vibes and performance perspective. That team kept fighting and just missed the playoffs, leading to mid-round pick and a good, but not great prospect.
Look at the u25 core of this team and what their realistic ceilings are on forward and defense. I'll include Fox because he's Adam Fox. Besides him, the rest are guys who appear to be a range of high-end support guys to good bottom-6 guys. The issue is that they're still missing the guy up front to build the team around, and that's not some quick fix that's realistically made via trade or UFA. Even if they get Hagens in the draft, I think people are probably setting unrealistic expectations for what type of player he's going to be. I think his ceiling is someone like Nick Suzuki, who is a very good player and an important player to build around. You need more than just that though. It'd be similar to the Devils getting Hischier who helped lay the foundation for their rebuild, and then they got Hughes who helped push it over the top. The Rangers need something similar.
Why? because you don't like him? He'd be the best player on our team.
90 point 2 way player does nothing for a team that can't score and has 0 forwards who defend? Tell the Rangers to stop, we're just discussing credible rumors for a guy the team has wanted going back to 2022. It can't be helped if people dislike him on a personal level. he's also got a 5 year deal, it's not a trade for just this year.
2 proposed trades in this article. One by Drance and one by Staple.
Drance: Chytil/Schneider/Othmann and a 3rd for JT and Hoglander
Staple: Mika and Lafreniere for JT and Garland.
Id do both.

but if the goal is shake up the locker room/get rid of the country club atmosphere, then that’s the kind of team leadership you want to do that (rightfully or wrongfully). Everyone says we need an attitude adjustment; so it’s kind of weird to acknowledge we do and then say “not like that!”

It better be under 4mil

I have $3.5m in my mind
Oh, I love Laf, despite this latest slump. Before last year, I said I think his ceiling for NHL impact is to be around Filip Forsberg, and I still believe that. Forsberg is a very, very good player, but it kind of fits with what I said about not having that guy to build the team around. It doesn't help that the other high-end support guys like Perreault and Cuylle are also wings. That's why I added in the comment about the Devils and getting Hischier to lay the foundation and then getting Hughes to help put it over the top.RE your last paragraph - I still think Laf can build on last year and be a similar player to what Matt Tkachuck is for Florida.
The team’s so bad this year I’m trying not to rush judgement on some of the young players and what this season means for them going forward .
you would think you’d learn as a Rangers fan what moves scream “massive mistake” when you see them. I don’t care what he’s done is Vancouver the past few years. How long do you project Miller to be a PPG player? 2 years, 3 years at best? yet you say you care about the next 5-7 years. seems like you only care about the immediate future.
i don’t like him? multiple front offices and teams haven’t liked him. i wonder why he’s available once again despite being so amazing??
Perhaps Schneider is being overrated on here. But....it no way is Miller better than him. At this time, Miller isnt better than Jones or Mancini. Has nothing to do with defense partners either (as last night's sterling play showed). You could pair Miller with 1994 playoff Leetch and he would still be crap.Miller is better than Schneider.
Braden Schneider has become extremely overrated around here.
The Rangers need more talent, and they need to get younger. JT would definitely be more talented than most of our current players, but how does the timeline fit? Do you think this team with JT Miller is winning a cup next season? Even if we do an “on the fly” retool, there’s a lot of moving parts here. We need to reshape our roster entirely. We need several new defenseman, we need to move/replace numerous forwards, we need a new coach, and we have a lot of massive contracts and clauses to work around. Even if we try to expedite this, it’s gonna take longer than one deadline and one offseason. By the time 2026-2027 rolls around, where we could *maybe* have retooled to a point where we have a chance at actually winning it all, Miller will be 34 by the time the playoffs start. We’ve seen multiple players fall off a cliff even before this age, right around the age 32 season, actually. We’ve seen it with Mika, Richards, Nash, Girardi, Staal, Gaborik, Drury, Gomez, could go on forever but you get the point. For people who have been paying close attention the Vancouver situation like myself, the Canucks dont want to trade him either. They seem equally open to moving Pettersson, who is far more overpaid. The only plus on him is that he's younger. He would just be another mopey soft guy with an NMC if he came here. At least JT Miller would be a voice in the room we dont have currently. As would Brady T, who I would move mountains to get. The Rangers need more players who dont take any shit, because this team has been shoveling shit into its mouth at previously unseen levels.
