I'm not about trading a bunch of youth for JT. Especially if Mika is still here. Mika not going is a deal breaker in any reasonable trade for Miller. I'd do Mika+, but not Mika+ Laf. Not trading a potential 80-90pt, or even a potentially 70-80pt 22 year old forward as part of a package for a 32 year old who may give us a year or two of 90+ pts.
But that's me.

Id do the Laf trade because Garland is also a great fit for this team. But in general I would not trade Lafreniere in a deal where only JT is coming back. Much more open to moving Schneider as has been rumored.

I think Lafreniere is more likely to be the captain of the rangers in a few years than he is to be traded.

garland is like a 30 year old borderline 2nd liner and thats enough of an add to move Laf?

Don’t shoot the messenger:
Published report on Monday, January 5th:
The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta said that Zibanejad might consider leaving New York if the fit is right.

"Citing a source close to the Rangers, Zibanejad would be open to waiving his NMC for the right environment," Pagnotta wrote.

I doubt he has Mika on speed dial

I dont need Mika on speed dial. The man himself crushed all rumors in the Athletic.

“I haven’t heard anything,” Zibanejad said. “I don’t read anything, I don’t listen to anything. It’s noise.

”My focus has always been here. My focus has never been on anything else.”

everyone has to stop with JT Miller. he does nothing for this team. they aren't winning shit this year. and he's not that good. i would rather just keep Mika if we're going to be giving up all these assets for him.

we should absolutely be rebuilding unless you want to stay in purgatory

Im just telling you what the Rangers are not going to do and that's "rebuild" again or whatever that term means to people. They are going to attempt to change the veteran core, fix the defense, and be right back at it next year. Personally, Id like them to get a move on with this because the team is not watchable. And is purgatory the 8th seed? because we're prob still going to make the payoffs as an 8 seed when Igor goes on his patented late season run.

its just a trade for the sake of excitement. this season is boring so lets trade for a 32yo with noted issues

90 point 2 way player does nothing for a team that can't score and has 0 forwards who defend? Tell the Rangers to stop, we're just discussing credible rumors for a guy the team has wanted going back to 2022. It can't be helped if people dislike him on a personal level. he's also got a 5 year deal, it's not a trade for just this year.

That's seriously one funny comment. DJ summer time is right around the corner Mika

We aren't giving up all those assets. It's foolishness. Best deal van can get from me is mika, Robertson, sykora/3rd pick

wanna bet? this team will not be out of the bottom 10 for the rest of the year. this season is kaput. once they keep playing like dogshit we’ll be selling multiple pieces come the deadline

Mika said literally nothing in these comments. 'Crushed all rumors" is a funny way to frame them.

Why would Drury go to a guy about waiving his NMC when the other team already said they dont want him lol

Staple is a f***ing idiot. Go back to covering the Islanders, Arthur.

I just said it in the PGT, but it's probably better for here. The MSG propaganda machine needs to stop spinning this team as if they're in the thick of the playoff race. They're the 7th worst team via points%, and it's ok to just admit this season is lost. They're the 2022-23 Calgary Flames from a vibes and performance perspective. That team kept fighting and just missed the playoffs, leading to mid-round pick and a good, but not great prospect.

Look at the u25 core of this team and what their realistic ceilings are on forward and defense. I'll include Fox because he's Adam Fox. Besides him, the rest are guys who appear to be a range of high-end support guys to good bottom-6 guys. The issue is that they're still missing the guy up front to build the team around, and that's not some quick fix that's realistically made via trade or UFA. Even if they get Hagens in the draft, I think people are probably setting unrealistic expectations for what type of player he's going to be. I think his ceiling is someone like Nick Suzuki, who is a very good player and an important player to build around. You need more than just that though. It'd be similar to the Devils getting Hischier who helped lay the foundation for their rebuild, and then they got Hughes who helped push it over the top. The Rangers need something similar.

That's not a rebuild. Im not making any trades based on winning this year. Im making them based on winning the next 5-7. I'll gladly take the lottery pick we'll get this year.

Official Fitz stance on Borgen.

Like Brendan Smith, when we traded for him...

A) Good 3rd pairing defenseman on a good team.

B) 2nd pairing defenseman on a bad/mediocre team.

My concern is that NYR see him as a fix for the top 4, when in an ideal situation he should only be filling that role during injuries.

I'd love Borgen on the 3rd pairing but I have the impression that if NYR extended him it would be with the intention of being a top 4 guy at a top 4 price, just like we did Brendan Smith. And I think that would be a mistake if the goal is to be a great team with players fit into the appropriate roles/price tags
To keep him off market what is the number?

Im happy for u. Thats fine.

He is not one of mine.
Ditto or anybody else for that matter . I have been a fan since 1970 and loved me some Park-Ratelle-Hadfield and I soon found out what a hard reality it quickly becomes when you like guys a lot as a fan and then see them traded . Now It is the team....I want them to be a team and play like a team as it is the team I cheer for and not any one player .

So you believe removing their miserable play is the reason this team continues to play badly… as I said it’s obvious that you haven’t followed this team. And that’s fine. I don’t follow any other team as closely as I follow this one. But you also won’t catch me arguing on other teams boards because obviously those fans know a lot more about their team than I do…

If you read carefully I'm not saying I know the reason - Just asking pointing questions. I literally came here to find out from those who watch the team all the time what is the reason for this collapse, and to this point the only somewhat suggested answers given are that the team was never that good and Goodrow/Trouba were bad/terrible and should've been let go. And on top of that there seems to be no consensus if Drury has a plan and/or is doing a good job.

So again...I don't know more than anyone here, but is the answers for the rangers terrible play that...There are no answers yet?

The veteran players quit on the team when their friends got traded/waived. The downfall isn't a talent issue its a locker room issue. It's embarrassing and nonsensical from a fan perspective (at least for me personally) but it's what happened.
