As much as I’ve shit on Lafreniere and I love garland, I don’t know if I want to burn the Lafreniere asset on him. If we are going to trade Laf I’d hope it was for someone like Tkachuk/Pettersson. Obviously those guys have to be available.

I feel like it's a trade that can get done without including Lafreniere.

I’m not Schneider’s biggest fan, but I don’t think the team is in a position to move him. Especially when you tell me the thing coming to replace him is Mancini (who I have little faith in up to this point) and Emery (who is basically magic beans)

Like no thank you
Only way they trade Schneider is if they keep Borgen, who I have to say has been playing much better as of late.

This. Trading Laffy only makes sense in a hockey trade for an elite player in the same age range. Trading him for a 30-something player with a big contract is the NYR way however. You think the writers would've figured out by now this is a terrible idea.

I was just speaking to the idea of trading Lafreniere in general, I wouldn’t trade for Miller unless Mika was absolutely a part of the deal and without adding in a piece like Lafreniere or Schneider. I’d trade them for Pettersson but not Miller.

It can if they include Schneider.

I hate that too. It’s not even the idea of trading Schneider but it’s the idea of trading Schneider for a 32 year old malcontent. What else could Schneider return? If they’re going to go that route, they should probably be looking elsewhere.

Chytil's injury may not be his head. For all we know, he hurt his shoulder or wrist reaching for a puck.

Miller last night, beyond his gaff, I thought was much better. He was physical on multiple occasions with Benn specifically. When he engages physically, his game improves substantially.

Sadly Miller rarely players consistently well or consistently with physical play. He has size, he should not be so lazy and soft. We heard athletic skating dman that can defense when drafted. I have not seen any of that yet. Gordie Clark ugh, physical specimen lmfao

It's too bad no one wants our bad players like K'Andre and Lindgren

Great lets bench one of the only two guys who skate hard and hustle every shift because he had a "bad" game. That is why I don't want a first or second overall pick here. I would rather pick lower and send the kid to Hartford or back to college to develop. Berard is a good player because he was given a chance and developed in Hartford. If he started immediately here as a pro he would have already been traded for scraps. Let the fkin kid play. We need more of him not less.

Friedman also wrote in 32T that Trocheck is the guy other teams covet, but the Rangers arent interested in dealing him and are more likely to make him captain. I would be absolutely fine with this. the problem with the rangers captaincy is that its made into a bigger deal than it needs to be. the team needs cohesion and a leader, throw the C on Trocheck so he has the clout to say what he feels. Probably would help if the Rangers traded for his childhood teammate who has a reputation for being demanding of his teammates. if Braden Schneider is what it takes to get JT and offload Mika, I think you do it. Rangers can go with Fox, Borgen, Mancini on the right. rather trade K'Andre but he's going elsewhere hopefully soon.

On Miller, I would not want to give up Schneider. That would be a bonehead move. Gave away Miller only to trade for him years later and trade from a position of weakness. Rangers dont have much young dman with potential in the AHL ready to replace Schneider. I’d rather deal Miller or someone else with a higher cap hit

Been saying it for 2 years.

If and when Chytil is back and playing well, try to move him for a decent return.

They will lose him for nothing.
I think that ship has sailed. The entire league is aware of his injury woes. It's really unfortunate, because I think he is a great player but NYR will never get anything of value for him.

I'm less enthused about Schneider than many others and to me, he's not developing defensively as I would have hoped, but he's still young and cheap. No need to trade him unless it's for a massive upgrade

Official Fitz stance on Borgen.

Like Brendan Smith, when we traded for him...

A) Good 3rd pairing defenseman on a good team.

B) 2nd pairing defenseman on a bad/mediocre team.

My concern is that NYR see him as a fix for the top 4, when in an ideal situation he should only be filling that role during injuries.

I'd love Borgen on the 3rd pairing but I have the impression that if NYR extended him it would be with the intention of being a top 4 guy at a top 4 price, just like we did Brendan Smith. And I think that would be a mistake if the goal is to be a great team with players fit into the appropriate roles/price tags

I could see this. It all depends on what he is looking for in terms of his next contract. His stats aren't great this year so I was hoping it was 'reasonable' but I may be wrong
