With JT, I think the question is why they want to add another high priced talent above 30.

It sounds like they tried to basically replace Zibanejad with him and okay, that makes the most sense if you’re going to do it. How much longer is JT going to play at the level he’s been at the last few years?

It makes sense from a play style POV but it’s another guy whose best days are behind him and had a long term high dollar deal.

The Rangers aren't rebuilding. They'll be going for the Cup over the duration of JT or Mika's contracts. We've got plenty of youth on the NHL roster and coming through the pipeline, with most likely another lottery pick added in June. Miller is a clear fit to me because we are in desperate need of a new look in the top 6, he fits the temperament of what this team desperately needs in a leader, and he excels on the PP, which we are horrible at now that the Sacred Cows are checked out. JT just has to do his part and request a trade here. I have no reason to think his best days are behind him. he's scoring at a PPG pace this year in the middle of his own turmoil. What are our guys doing?

Messier was 31 when we acquired him. You never know who's gonna hit.

That's not to say I'm going to be sad if they don't get JTM but I wouldn't be against it.

I don't believe in "we're supposed to be losing" paradigms for roster building. You find holes and fill them accordingly.

He fills an obvious hole. You hope it's for 3 or 4 years, but I understand the risk that it isn't.

As a UFA, I wouldn't be interested at this point in time, but we already have a player in that spot who's expensive and not filling the hole. There's nothing to lose.

NYR have cap space, they're not blowing it up as Mc noted, and there are only so many high priced players available for trade at any given time. So it's not a situation where we can just search and poke through NHL rosters for top line players or top pairing defenseman making 8-10 million, call up the GM and say "Hey, want KAndre Miller, Zac Jones and Brennan Othmann for this guy?"

I assume Miller is a target because he's on the table, just like Dany Heatley, Rick Nash, Brad Richards, MSL, and Jack Eichel before him. The only 'big' acquisition we made that seemed out of the blue and like a player not actively being shopped was Keith Yandle.

Tavares is about to be extended. Marner likely as well. Top line players rarely come available in UFA and when they do they're usually already declining.

Ive been a JT guy for years now as most people know. The thing people like to ignore with him is that he's been a 90-100 point player pretty much since 2019. We're not trading for a 50 point malcontent who left the Rangers. A lot of Canucks fans prefer to trade Pettersson. He'd immediately be our best forward considering Panarin's apathetic play this year. we need a vet to run things through as we move into the Perreault, Lafreniere, Fox core. It helps a lot that he's trocheck's boy. Tro gets the C(that he has earned with his play and work in the room) and JT gets to be his hatchet man. Rangers go forward with those 2 guys leading some hungry youth and Igor.

Wait until JT gives Gabe the evil eye. JT is not Messier. He won Cups with Wayne and without Wayne. He won playoff MVP in 1984 and league MVP in 1990. JT hasn't won anything in his career and he is giving Pettersson a hard time. JT is the leader of the Rangers. We are so f***ed. May god help us all.

Them overpaying for JT has all the makings of him coming back here and being a bozo once again

He’s been thrown away by 2, going on 3 organizations now. But the second go around here will definitely be the time that works lmao

My interest in JT Miller doesn't go much farther than it's a chance to get rid of Zibanejad.
This pretty much sums it up. Which will never happen one for one, so it’s a moot point

I like JT.

I'm going to go on vibes here, which you know I don't do often, but why not? I'm in a good mood.

JT has gotten a reputation for being a bit problematic, but the vibe that I get is that he doesn't take any shit. That's where the problems start. He always struck me as an intense player and a guy that's gonna have standards for his team.

Ok, maybe he's too intense. I don't know. All I know is that there was a situation this year. That's not a fit everywhere. People change. Relationships end. I think we need a shakeup. I think we need a new culture going forward from a guy that can play 5v5, and he definitely can.

Also, he was always a good player. People talk about this breakout in Vancouver but he was barely playing for the Rangers and Tampa. Vancouver threw him out there 20 minutes a game because they were rebuilding and lo and behold...

Pettersson has almost 200 points over the last 2 seasons. WTF is he moping about? Similar reasons to our loser players. JT is bullying Pettersson so much and its such a distraction that they both scored at PPG paces last year and the Canucks made the playoffs and won a round with Artus Silovs in goal.

How soft is this league and players? If the Canucks want to idiotically trade Miller like we did, I'll gladly take him. Ive been saying this since 2022 when we couldve had him as a 2 year rental. @Machinehead made the messier comparison. Id dont care in the slightest about a guy being 31.

Said it in the PGT but if Lindgren is diminished, why is he playing with our franchise player 20 minutes a night? Charity?

JT went at it with Lundqvist in a game right before the letter. He was gone days later. I agree that he doesnt take shit. No matter from who.

You know who take more shit without a response than any team in the league? The Rangers. It's an obvious fit. If all it takes is including Schneider, Im in at this point. We have depth on the right side.

We can't win with Mika, so why not try and move him for Miller who is the total opposite of Mika in regards to physicality and intensity.

Now that Rempe has finished his sentence in persecution prison they should send down Matt to continue his development and bring up Grouxl.
BOG has looked real good in Hartford this season. High energy guy, with skill and drive. Give Grouxl 4 games and see what he has.
et tu @Clark Kellogg , et tu?
Rempe up immediately
the A is NOT the environment to up his skills AT NHL LEVEL
minimal benefit of more reps is NOT a substitute for getting NHL experience to maintain an NHL career

Rempe now
Vesey for a 6th/7th anywhere
Then yeah, open to Grouxl

f*** you, Larry.

I've donated my time, mental health, and money to this team.

I'm the torchbearer. Lindgren just works here.
Yeah, I second that, eff you Larry
Also, this is what I have been saying
THE FANS are first
without us, no ability to sustain clubs/league
which = players last in this equation

once again, bern is usually right, learn with da bern

Engagement bait by beat writers is still engagement bait.

Fans have always been brutal when players struggle, whether they deserve it or not. With the exception of a few assholes around here, I think most of us really appreciate what Lindgren has done fo rthe franchise but believe it's time ot move on.

It's not like we were super kind to Kevin Klein his last season here either. Or Girardi, Or Staal.
