Not necessarily directed at you: I know buch gets thrown around here as a guy to move, but I'd prefer not trading him. He has the skill we want and also the grit. He may not be the nastiest guy out there, but the guy has grit to his game. That mix is valuable to us me thinks

I'd prefer not to trade the guy either as I like him as a player but it comes down to whether or not the team can fill other needs without trading him or if the other deals they like make him expendable. We also know his name was out there last year at the draft, so I would imagine the Rangers are still exploring the market for him.

I thought his game took steps forward his year to being a part of this team longer term. Regardless it will be an interesting summer.

I agree but on the flip side that might be what makes him even more valuable to another team. I think they're probably beyond the futures package that was rumored last June but if they could get a similarly aged LD or C with upside? Probably a goner.

But it makes Buch more valuable to the Rangers. The guys is still barely scratching the surface of his talent and with his body finally filling around his frame. His dry spell in December and shorten season might be a blessing in disguise during a long term salary negotiations. If he signs for $1.5 less than Nylander for the next four years - it's a lot of dough to put elsewhere especially if he's eventually overtaken by Kakko as team's top RW.

I see a lot of posts that already view this roster through the prism of SC contention. This is at least one season too early. The reasonable goal for next season is to make playoffs. Buch, Kakko, Chytil, Gauthier, Howden, Fox, Lingren will become MUCH better as a GROUP. Shesterkin by himself should make the Rangers a PO team. IMHO let them mature by another year and not make any drastic roster changes as more internal help will be underway.

Georgiev for Donato/Eriksson Ek and Stalock?

Yeah Minnesota should trade Eriksson Ek. only c on their roster for Gorgeiv. Not happening.

If any team was even willing to give a 2nd round pick at trade deadline much less a former 1st round pick, & really good complete shutdown c , it would have happen.

The only way wild trade for anymore unproven G could be because of Kaprizov.

Wild G:
Dubnyk
Stalock: 2 more years
Kaapo kahkonen:AHL goalie of the year, & Future of Minnesota wild
Hunter Jones: 3rd round pick in 2019 who was signed to 3 years elc in nay

Yeah I mean like I said I can certainly see the positive outlook for Buch. However, the team is committed to Kakko, Kreider, Zib, and Panarin going forward. If they want another straight-ahead guy in their top-six, then it stands to reason that he has to play either 2C or RW. It's probably easier to find the latter on the market than the former. The team also has more depth internally on the right-side with Kakko, Gauthier, and potentially Kravtsov. They also really like Fast and I suspect they'd like to keep him.

Again, I'd really like to see Buch realize his potential with us but I'm also aware of the fact that he might be a really good trade chip for the team.

Can of worms time: a big ridiculous blockbuster trade would probably have to include Shestyorkin, and if you trade Georgiev too early you might kind of shut the door on that?

We don't need a blockbuster trade, we need to improve our bottom 6 imo and figure out what we are doing at 2c. I think Greenway fits this team perfectly

Sir this is a Wendy’s

Would love Mantha, but I wouldn't trade ADA for him.

Buchnevich+ would probably be the other option, though I get the nagging feeling that Pavel is right on the verge of being a late bloomer and beginning to pop 65 point seasons.

Why does everyone want to trade for wings so much when we already have Panarin, Kakko, Kreider, Buch, Kravtsov, Gauthier, Barron, and Lemieux and are probably adding at least one more wing in the first round of this year's draft?

Unless you're getting some sort of value that you just can't turn down, I thought the idea was to trade from strength to fill in holes instead of adding players you don't need.

Nabbing a Zach Hyman type could be a hell of pick. The question is who's on the board and how do you rate their upside.

I get the feeling Holloway would've been a more likely target if they stayed in that 14+ range. At 10 or 11, I have a feeling there's going to be someone else they like more on the board.
I’ll bet $5 they go off the board.

In part because a lot of us want to see this team, when it competes, having three solid scoring lines. Right now we have Panarin and Kreider on the left, Buchnevich and Kakko on the right. Everyone else is either a question mark (Kravtsov, Gautheir), or likely not a top 9 scoring forward (Barron, Lemieux, Fast)

The year we made the finals our lines were

Kreider-Stepan-Nash
Haeglin-Richards-MSL
Pouliot-Brassard-Zuccarello
Moore-B0yle-Dorsett

We're a long way from that right now.

Possibly, but it also depends on how people define the board.

The problem isn't necessarily that the Rangers go to some far-off planet to find their talent, the problem is that we, as a board, sometimes get tunnel vision with who we view as the targets and where those targets are "ranked."
