Yeah a Nylander move wouldn't be made in isolation. It'd likely mean at least one of ADA, Strome, or Buchnevich would be dealt in a different deal to address other needs. You probably aren't addressing every single need this summer but you can at least mitigate a few of them. As noted, however, Kreider being re-signed might throw a wrench into the idea of adding Nylander and the Rangers might have to look for cheaper options.

Maybe you and I interpret soft differently. I don't necessarily think if you throw a bunch of hits that automatically means your team isn't soft. Teams generally have a personality to them, an image. When I think of NYR right now I see a team that is soft mentally in that if things are going their way they flourish, but they struggle to change momentum, have push back, and in general have the ability to alter the state of a game when needed. This has been an ongoing theme for this team for longer than just this season. So yes to me this would fit soft...

Add the consistently slow starts to games, for god knows how many years now.

I don't believe anyone pining for Nylander assumes that a move for him would be made in a vacuum. Other players could be moved to backfill depth with different guys, etc
I've seen plenty of people stating he would slot into a top 2 rw spot and seen ada thrown around as the trade piece. Personally I would rather keep ada bc when healthy he is a huge part of our pp humming and I would like to see what he does in a full season with dragging Staal's corpse around the ice 5v5.

It is all a part of team identity. The same people calling for the leafs to blow up bc their team identity has some of the same traits nyr shows are calling for one of their main 4 to come here to help change things for nyr? That makes no sense. The idea would be to add an element to the team it is missing, not add more of the same. That is why I said I could be on board if the trade was for a guy like Kratsov as the main piece but also had the caveat that strome is moving for more diverse players for the bottom 6 and to offset the salary of WN.

I'd hire some former Boston or Philly scouts and try it through the draft.

"Need to be more physical" is usually stupid person talk for "Need to hit more". I am so very utterly and completely sorry I confused you for those people

Bourbon makes a lot of people angry. Might want to clean up in an effort to recognize the surrounding cast isn’t nearly as lost as your fogged lamp perceives them to be.

Well, I don't think Nylander solves all their problems, but he does give them scoring on the right side, or potentially as a center if the Rangers think he fills that whole.

At this point, with Kreider in the fold, it's unlikely to happen though.

if the NHL allowed the Yankes/MLB payroll i would be more than happy to add a Nylander knowing his dollars wouldn’t cost the Rangers other valuable players. Can’t do it in the NHL though.

A guy who's name came up the past couple of years who may be available is Jack Roslovic from Winnipeg. He had 29 points this year as a 23 year old. With what happened to Winnipeg last off-season with losing Trouba, Buff and Myers and with the showing they just had perhaps they would be looking to add some offensive depth. Roslovic is a RFA this off-season.

They have Perreault and Little as other centers who both were either hurt all season (Little) or underachieved (Perreault). Both are 32.

Maybe something like:
Strome for Roslovic + Stanley

Strome just had his best season playing with Panarin and in Winnipeg he would be playing with Connor and Ehlers more than likely. Could be had for a reasonable deal based on his track record and the cap being flat I'm sure.

Well, shocking enough that midget-Fast is consistently the guy that grinds and grits it out. Wish he could throw punishing hits though.

losing both he and Lemeiux hurt along with the backup/3rd Goalie letting in some softies. Big picture, let’s hope the improved draft position helps this org long term,

more soft hockey no thanks. rangers need more grit. canes were more physical than the Rangers. that says something. need to get quicker in my opinion too

The team lost every puck battle and got the shit kicked out of them, got outworked badly. If you think toughness means throwing a million hits then you don't understand what it means.

We got outplayed by a deeper and more talented team that didn’t start a massive rebuild 2 1/2 years ago.

You’re going to have to be more patient and let Gorton/JD’s plan come to fruition.

Our guys couldn't match their intensity and couldn't maintain any constant pressure. Got beat all over the ice, in front of the goalie, corners, neutral zone. It's a mixture of everything. Tight, checking series will require guys willing to go to the ugly areas of the ice and not roam around the perimeter all series. Hopefully Gorton can build a balanced lineup that can play in all situations because if we expect to win anything, we can't make every game a pond hockey game. Need to tighten it up.

i mean, we been there before with Torts, AV, we had deep runs with balanced teams. I'm not sure why fans think that the Rangers are all of a sudden going to change how stanley cups are won in this league and put down anything that suggests they get harder to play against.

i think most of us are patient. I think we’re pointing out what’s either missing or needs to be developed. The rebuild is still happening with another two first Rounders, kids everywhere, prospects to be promoted and a few dinosaur vets to ship out.

IMO, so long as the Rangers remain frugal with their dollars and draft kids who can contribute, rather than a Lias Anderson type, they’ll be good. Let’s just hope a Crosby isn’t matched with a Lafreniere after tonight b/c sometimes Pittsburgh stars derail everybody.

Well, for starters, most Cup winners had elite homegrown talent they drafted and developed. Something we haven’t had the opportunity of doing until Gorton started a fire sale.

You want TUFFNESS? Gorton does too. He acquired guys like Trouba and Lemieux. He also traded for 6-4 230lb Gauthier. Kakko’s 6-3 and will play around 220lb as he bulks up over the years. Kravtsov is 6-3 too. K’Andre is a freaking monster. Morgan Barron is a big big too. Robertson is like 6-3 as well.

The teams AV and Torts had were a product of Sather and very different from the team Gorton has been engineering. But, we’re still a few years away from seeing that product, so I’ll repeat the one word JD has repeatedly used since becoming President.

Patience.

Edstrom, Skinner, Rueschhoff. This notion that we only target shorties is typical

Wild GM Bill Guerin didn't like what he saw from the team's goaltenders this season.

Guerin stated that the team is not committed to goalies Alex Stalock and Devan Dubnyk for next season. "No, the hierarchy's not clear," Guerin said. "Whoever's playing well is going to play. I was disappointed in the goaltending this year. Al had a tremendous year and Devan had an off year, and it needs to be better. That's just the way it is. And if I told you anything different, I'd be lying to you. It was not a strong point for us. Can those two turn it around for you next year? No, I can't say that. If we don't get the feeling that we're going to be better, then we're going to improve it."

Potential suitor for Georgiev?

If they get Laf maybe they will be more willing to give something up.

Not necessarily directed at you: I know buch gets thrown around here as a guy to move, but I'd prefer not trading him. He has the skill we want and also the grit. He may not be the nastiest guy out there, but the guy has grit to his game. That mix is valuable to us me thinks

Didn't even realize Guerin was the GM there. Wonder if they would move Greenway for Georgiev
