Assets for Kreider at 2.3M for a year then 7 years at ~7M or Jeff Skinner for 9M/8?

I’d rather trade for Kreider if I’m Buffalo. Would have to be sure about him re-signing, though.

Very fair, but I don't think that's too much of an impossibility. He can play with Eichel, Dahlin and fit in there with them.

If Jimmy Vesey or Ryan Strome were on the table, Malkin would be a Ranger by now.

Malkin may outscore Jimmy Vesey's entire career in one of his usual 50 game, injury riddled seasons but Jimmy is the youngest 26 year old in NHL history so who knows if we have seen his full ceiling.

There are always tough things to consider when swapping franchise legends

Can you imagine what our roster looks like this off-season according to the beat:
No because there is absolutely no chance of them giving point an offersheet and there is zero point zero chance of them trading for Malkin.

Yes! I've been wanting to see Karlsson spend his retirement years on the Rangers.

It's not enough to have only watched the decline of Stevens, Naslund, Bure, Richards, Lindros, Shanahan, Gretzky, Messier part 2, Boyle, Redden, Drury, Eric Staal, Shattenkirk.

I need to see more.
For the sake of fairness, Gretzky needs to come out of that equation. He STILL put up over 90 points at that age and with that putrid team.

Panarin is very much a possibility.
It may be a possibility, but IMO not at the level of "very much". For me, to even begin to believe that Gorton would need to 1) trade Kreider 2) be in a position to draft one of the names that we bantered about (Cozens, Dach, Zegras, Turcotte etc.). Only then do I see a path for the possibility of Panarin. I still do not believe that this is happening, but when compared to offering Point an offersheet or trading for Malkin, it is the far more realistic scenario.

That seem like a lot, but I think the Rangers can still fit him in with Pananin, Malkin, Trouba, Karlsson, Point, Kreider. :sarcasm:
But really, why stop there? Let's really put the band back together and resign Hayes and Zucc. And then get Messier to be President.

God, how I wish for a fast forward button on this rebuild. Sick and tired of all the ridiculous proposals ... trade for Malkin lmao , sign EK, trade for Trouba, sign Breadman, sign the spaghetti monster, sign 'em all!

Karlson can make a more substantial immediate impact on the team, but Panarin would likely provide the better value over the length of his contract.

I vote neither, but if it has to be one I'd take Panarin. I see a significantly higher risk that Karlson and his contract are detrimental to the team when they're ready to win.

Can you imagine what our roster looks like this off-season according to the beat:

Kreider Point (offersheet) Panarin (FA)
Kravtsov Malkin (Trade) Kakko
Chytil Zibanejad Buch
Fast Andersson Strome/Howden

Karlsson(FA) Fox
Skjei Shattenkirk
Staal Hajek/Pionk

Brooks said the 20th overall would not be something NYR is parting with for Malkin. So lets overpay and say 20th and Vesey/Namestnikov :)

Well, I'm excited.

Not that I'm advocating a trade for Malkin, but I don't see a way they get him while not giving up any of Skjei, Andersson, Chytil, Kravtsov, Buch, Kreider, Hajek or Howden in a package.

Chris Johnston on FAN960 says he would be surprised to see Erik Karlsson back in San Jose, says it has been hard on his family with his wife being from Ottawa. Says the NY Rangers are the most likely destination for him, Lightning are 2nd, he’d take a discount to play with Hedman
Good let him take a discount and play in Tampa

Fantastic player but not interested in trading pieces for Malkin. The only hockey trade we should make should benefit us for the next several years. Unfortunately, Malkin at 32 doesn’t do that. But, I would part with pieces to get a foundational piece as worthy as Kakko. I think anyone would, anyway.
