Bear with me guys, but would you consider moving Kreider and Georg to Buffalo for the 7th and 30th pick, with Buffalo also receiving a conditional 2nd or 3rd in 2020 if Kreider doesn't sign again? With Buffalo having a major failure this past season and a new head coach they will want to make a move to be a playoff contender. Not really a fan of moving either player, but this would absolutely fast-track our build. Also gives Buffalo a great option for goaltending and much deeper forward core to have punch on the second line to take pressure off Eichel/Skinner.

Thoughts?

Kreider and Geo for #7 alone would be a ripoff without the other first.

I know some think I am nuts but why not see if they can move a Kreider in a package for a good defensive RD to go with Fox and ADA for the future?

why does it have to be Kreider for another 1st?

Because nobody will give up a quality young RD without a massive overpayment, but you can draft one and hope he plans out.

The more I’ve watched Cozens, the more I see all the tools without a stable toolshed. His hockey IQ and creativity aren’t up there with some of the top prospects in this draft. He’s more a north/south player than east/west. The top players in this draft have both. His speed, his shoot first mentality, and his consistency are all major pluses. I just don’t have the same confidence he has a playing style that will allow him to dominate at the next level. He reminds me of Nolan Patrick.
You can be a dominant player and play north-south. Frankly the more straight to the net approach the Rangers have, the better. I have had more than enough east-west overpass the puck, play on the perimeter play under AV.

Elliotte Friedman on his latest podcast. Florida is the favorite for Panarin. Coach Q factor. If Florida wants both Columbus guys, they will get them. Elliotte said Point would be the guy if the Rangers decided to offer sheet a player.

The Rangers aren't giving up 4 first round picks for Point. Every year with the offer sheet speculation.

The Rangers aren't going to offer sheet ANYONE. Always this chatter from the "experts" and it never happens. Why? Because the cost is f***ing insane.

That may be the worst article I've ever read.

1. The Penguins would even consider trading Malkin to the Rangers?
2. The Rangers would have pick 20 OFF THE TABLE for Malkin?
3. Would the Rangers trade a "Ryan Strome, Jimmy Vesey, Ryan Lindgren, or Yegor Rykov?" Lol.

I'm not exactly sure what a 33 year old Malkin does for the Rangers.

Any argument I made against Panarin would be multiplied by going down that route.

:dunno:

Didn't say I would take him. Just that Larry's article makes no sense. Even if the Rangers wanted Malkin for whatever reason I highly doubt the Penguins would deal him here and it certainly would not be for scraps.

No, I get that and wasn't implying you supported it. I'm equally as a baffled.

"It is equally difficult to believe that the Rangers would part with any of their most prized possessions — or the 20th-overall pick gained in the Kevin Hayes deal — in order to acquire Malkin."

Old Testament!

"They’re all hypotheticals at this point. Davidson surely has insight into Panarin that no one currently listed in the New York hierarchy owns, so that input would be invaluable. But as long as we’re talking hypotheticals, here’s one for you:"

"There is the macro decision about whether the Blueshirts are in position to attempt to accelerate this rebuild by mixing a high-profile veteran or two into a room populated increasingly by Gen Y’s or whether nabbing that No. 2 selection has provided more incentive to let it all grow organically and see where it falls through the season."

Why accelerate the rebuild? Just got your best draft selection in decades. The cupboard is re-stocking. Stay the course. If that's the direction JD would come in with, i pray he goes elsewhere.

"What if the Rangers could get Evgeni Malkin from the Penguins without sending a young blue chipper back in return? Would you rather have Malkin, 33 on July 31, for the final three years of his contract at a cap hit of $9.5 million per, or would you rather have Panarin, 28 on Oct. 30, for, say seven years at $11 million per? Or a hard pass on both — and on any high-priced free agent — while doubling down on the rebuild?"

If Panarin @11mil per season for max term. NO...Hell NO!

Also, it's not just about "Having" Malkin at $9.5 for 3 more seasons. Factor the rest of the crew that GMJG hasen't been able to move. It's $34 Mil in mistakes!

It doesn't look like a rebuild anymore. It's looks like a half-assed hockey retirement home!
Staal $5,700,000 2 more years
Smith $4,350,000 2 more years
Shatty $6,650,000 for 2 more years
Hank $8,500,000 for 2 more years
Malkin $9,500,000 for 3 more years

Larry, god bless him but he has been wrong way more often than not recently. He seems like he's just trying to throw shit at the wall to see if it sticks, we get it larry your not a fan of the rebuild.

He was a big fat toad this year. Embarrassing...if this were early 2000 a lock but not today.

Wonder where Gorton is with Lemieux and Buchnevich negotiations?

Buchnevich scored 21 in 64 games this year. He's 24. I love the idea of him in a full time top 6 role with the Rangers. Especially if Kakko is going to be worked into the equation.
Lemieux injected alot of life into the Rangers. They don't have a player like him, and haven't since Avery. What does the "tuffness", and the "agitation" intangable do for his next contract?
