i don't think a trade bringing back another goalie makes any sense. you aren't getting anything of value back for him so the ONLY reason to move him is cause you don't want to be forced to make a decision yet on georgiev and shesty. if we are gonna have a 3rd goalie just keep hank

The idea of Darling would be for him to be a back-up and hopefully rebuild some of his value to the point where he could be moved. If not, he can always be demoted and loaned out elsewhere

good goalies don't have trade value...what possible return are you hoping for even in the best case scenario?

Henrik Lundqvist recommits to Rangers after eye-opening quote

https://nypost.com/2019/05/06/henrik-lundqvist-recommits-to-rangers-after-eye-opening-quote/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site buttons&utm_campaign=site buttons

“I’d like to clarify my statement because I feel it caused some unnecessary speculation,” Lundqvist wrote. “My thinking hasn’t changed. The organization and I are in the same page.

“What I meant is that a player never becomes bigger or more important than an organization. While it is still my goal to win the Cup in New York before I retire, at the same time I understand as a player that I have to respect the position we are in and process we are going through.”

I'd be shocked if anyone gives anything even remotely of value for Henrik. At this point I'd rather just keep him and have him for his leadership and legacy.

I think the idea will be to do all reasonably possible to accommodate Hank's request if it he wants to playout his last two years elsewhere. In Carolina example if they take on Darling, retain on Lundqvist's compensation and the Rangers' cap hit will be somewhat close to what it would be with Hank then a nominal value of a mid-round pick or B-level prospect is all it would take. IMHO

Well, if they do, at least 2 of Namestnikov, Strome or Vesey will be gone. Or all 3.

Kreider, Zibanejad, Buchnevich, Lias, Chytil, Kravtsov, Kakko, Howden, Fast, Lemieux are already 10 NHL forwards on the roster next season. If we acquire 4th liners, the 3 mentioned earlier will not be on the team. Unless you think Kakko and Kravtsov play in the AHL

Agreed, but I think they keep Strome... Perfect insulation player in the middle six. He's that RW/C that slots I'm nicely as a utility guy.

Trying to put a good face on the slippage. Too late.

I've seen quite a few posts already putting Fox ahead of ADA. Way too premature not only for next season but in general. Too high expectations from the get go will get you into another Vesey situation. Many were penciling him into top-2 lines right away. Two years later and Vesey is still kind of a misfit bottom 6.

Thank Hank for shutting down this particular time-suck. He can't get them all, but he got in front of this one, gloved it down and stopped the clock.

Are these the same people that had Andersson and Chytil in top 6 roles at the start of the 2017-18 season?

Hank wants to be here he’s just not an idiot

If the kids do well then see what the deadline brings . Flames would of been a fit this year

There's simply no way Lundqvist isn't ultra-conflicted here. He's pretty much got 2 years left in the NHL and, as currently situated, has no chance to win the Cup. For a guy with his compete level, its something that'd likely eat at him for the rest of his life.

Anyway, and in some ways more importantly, the Rangers are playing this just fine. They have no reason to force him out, but if he wants to jump ship to take make another run or two at the Cup, Im sure they'd happily oblige.
