unlikely we were going to get a better prospect at the draft and develop successfully with a 2nd and w.e that cond 3rd is. fair deal.

That's a pretty nasty condition. Why do we get <50% conditions that is guaranteed to happen barring major injuries and then our conditions are for Tampa to win the cup and Dallas to reenact Disney's Frozen on Ice?

Eh, price is okay. Just happy it’s not a first rounder.

Yeah, it can be debated what leverage Carolina had and whatever.

But from my POV it’s all about making up your mind about what think about the return; if you aren’t convinced that Fox is for real, you don’t make a trade at all. If you believe in him, you close the deal.

Fox has a lot of upside. His skating isn’t top notch, but OTOH he has really good instincts. He is resolute and very authoritative on the ice. Comes hard into situations. He is really good from the blueline and in, possibly the best of the trioka he forms with TDA and Pionk.

If Fox is legit than it allows the Rangers to focus a bit more on going forward heavy this draft at least.

Yeah, and his age is perfect. These guys should be 4-5 years older than our forwards.

Gorton has been on a real roll lately.
Adding two legitimate, young playmakers on the defense in a two year span is just impressive. Winning teams have playmakers on defense.

If K’Andre is as good as I think he’ll be, our defense is shaping up to be in a great spot moving forward.

This part I agree with... getting more developed D to go with the forwards makes sense but am concerned about a guy who didn't wanna play in two places, has skating issues and isn't huge.

But hey, if DALbeats St. Louis and we package that 1st and WPG to move up I'll be ok ;)

The defense seems to be coming together slowly.

ADA and Fox on the right side.

They have some solid stay-at home guys ready or very close to ready in Rykov, Lindgren and Hajek for the left side.

You mean the St. Louis trade condition? Definitely wasn't >50% that the Rangers got to the Conference Finals. If you asked this board at the time, it was 0%. Or are you mad about the McQuaid 7th?

I remember when I first saw PK Subban in the pros, it was in the AHL when he was with Hamilton. I had heard about his WJC but I had not seen much of that tournament that year.

He was pretty square at the time, but his instincts really drove his game. Fox shouldn’t be compared to Subban, but his instincts and the confidence he plays with aren’t that unlike what Subban gives you.

So likely two 2nds for a recent 3rd we could have signed for free. Really hoping this won’t be Tim Erixon redux.

The Rangers are going to be very young next year but they also should be a lot better. Adding players like Kakko, Kravtsov, Shesterkin and Fox--all who could legitimately step in. Guys like Chytil, Howden and Andersson, Lemieux, DeAngelo, Buchnevich should all improve and maybe even Pionk. Georgiev is a solid NHL goalie and I can easily see Quinn going to him more often next year. He stole games the team had no business winning. The coaching staff knows their players now.

....and I still say if at all possible add Panarin. He plays well with others---is a wonderful distributor of the puck. He will help our younger players get better faster.

I’m thinking...

Big press announcement day tomorrow.

Gorton is not sleeping on this rebuild. He wants it sooner rather than later. Watch what happens next.

And Gorton's already on record that getting the No. 2 accelerates our rebuild. Next year should be a lot more of a fun year than the past two/three---we might not make the playoffs but we should be a lot better.

Yeah, and it — quite logically — becomes so much harder to shut down a team with offensively skilled Ds. Gives you another dimension.
