Oh no Fabbri scores twice in debut, Rangers really missed out...

Guy hasn’t played a full season in his entire career, including missing an entire season 2 years ago.

1 point in 9 games up until tonight.

There was a reason STL only got what they did when they moved him.

Nothing to see here.
“Guy hasn’t played a full season in his entire career” ...get a grip. “Guy” is 23, and played 72 games in his rookie season. As for the rest, time will tell. The reporting is that he wasn’t a Berube player, and de la Rose is.

Yeah, I get that and not where I'd want to be either. But something to gain from playoff experience from such a young team.

I don’t think Fabbri was on the market. I think STL zeroed in on De La Rose and made that deal happen, not the other way around. Do the Rangers move Lemieux or Fast for Fabbri? HF might, but I don’t think Gorton does.

Its possible. I agree I don't think he was shopped. I feel like Detroit was motivated to reunite him with Bertuzzi, and felt that the price for him was at an all-time low. de la Rose is Berube-type player. Detroit needed scoring more than checking depth. Of course, so did Blues at this point with Tarasenko and Steen out. But, Berube.

Berube or not, it is a lot more feasible to me that the Blues initiated this than the Red Wings did. People will say Gorton was sleeping but that’s bologna

You seem to know a whole lot about what happens behind closed doors. Explanation?
I dont know what happens behind closed doors, but what you’re insinuating is we give Ruff the benefit of the doubt why? Because quinn has more pull on final decisions? Ruff is here because he’s the vet coach, he’s the experienced one. Quinn said in the beginning he likes having Ruff there for the purposes of having a vet to lean on to help with the learning curve.

Whichever team initiated the ask, I don't think Gorton was sleeping on it. I don't think it was something that many other teams wouldve anticipated. In any event, Fabbri at this stage is a risk. At the cost of de la Rose, its a low risk. But no other GM was out there trying to fix their roster and thinking "hmm…Fabbri".

I don't think an ask would've ever got to Gorton. If one had, I wouldn't have offered more than a Nieves/Beleskey… maybe Berube would've been into Smith now with some salary retained. I certainly wouldn't have offered Lemieux or Fast.

I just get a kick out of posters who blame everything on a Ruff and give him credit for nothing. Like they know...

Agree with not trading him for futures. That said, and I said it earlier, a 24 year old right handed PMD still under team control for another couple of years coming off of what will probably be a 40 to 50 point season will be worth an absolute ton in a hockey trade.

But is he really? In this cap world all that matters is contribution/cost.

If Trouba is signed and have 6 years left on his contract at 5.75m per and Winnipeg can trade him anywhere they want — he would have returned the same as Adam Larsson did in the Hall trade. Instead he just got Winnipeg a miss-used Pionk and a non-high 1st.

TDA just have to play through what 2 or 3 more arbitration awarded contract years and he is an UFA.

Any team trading for him would do their due diligence. Anaheim? Does TDA really want to live there? Are you sure he doesn’t have a dram to play for Philly? I mean he can chose to get paid what a 3rd party think is his market value for a couple of years and then he can make his dream cone through.

Easily 1/3 of the league doesn’t feel that they are attractive locations for players. It’s just not Winnipeg and Edmonton.

I am sorry, but I don’t get why this place cannot figure out that we put TDA right into the same situation Fox and Trouba were in when we traded for them, the second we gave him that bridge deal. And if we trade him this will have a huuuuge impact on his return.

Just a few observations about the D:

1 - Tony D'Angelo is leading the D in points, BUT is also the only minus defender. Somehow he's managed to get 12 points and a be a -5. Again, no other defender on the team is a minus for the season. Either even or above. By comparison Adam Fox has 5 points and is a +2. Obviously a lot goes into those numbers, but even Marc Staal is a +2 on the year.

2. Worth noting: since Lindgren has been recalled, Adam Fox has scored 4 of his 5 points. Some of it is timing as Fox has steadily gotten more adjusted. But having a more steady partner in Lindgren has probably aided in that adjustment.

Tells you everything you need to know about +/-

Can Staal still be bought out after this season?? Or is that not possible since he will be in the final year?

He can be bought out. Savings of $2,133,333 on the cap in 2020-2021 when the cap is set to be quite tight (but still manageable IMO). A small hit of $1,066,667 in 2021-2022 (when we get huge savings with an additional $17,5 M coming off the cap). Math should not be too hard to do...

Lindgren and Fox have also played together in the past . I think we all want Staal moved but may be hard to do

I think the return could be good. Do I think there's a top-10 pick and a high upside defenseman to be had via that package? Eh, doubtful.

Strome for a 2nd would be good since they dealt theirs for Fox this year

we're not letting former 5th overall pick, point per game 1st line center Ryan Strome go for less than a pair of 2nds.

You are basing that on a small sample. Not sure the team should resign him as an rfa

Zib , Chytil , Howden is the plan. Andersson is already stuck at 4th line
