Bruised sternums can take quite a long time to get over. I know.

There is absolutely no smoke or fire regarding ZBad having a concussion. There is just message board frenzy. Yes, he does take a while to round his game into form after an injury. That happens.

Like I said, I have boxed. And having taken a shot to the chest that made me immobile for a while, I will say that it can take a bit to recover.

There is no cover up here.
We wouldn't have put him back on the ice if there was any idea he'd had a concussion. I am confident we are not that team.

The "sample" since he joined the Rangers is close to a full season.

He has shown no issues on playing either center or wing. Whatever the coaching staff has asked. And has done so without a peep.

Yea but he’s better a better at C

Giving Strome a long term deal would cost a lot. Giving him a 1 year deal just takes him to UFA.

Trade him now. Stats are stats, when we face a great team and need to put good players on the ice to help us get up it — Strome will not deliver. For me it’s the eye test, but if you don’t believe that, like ask yourself, why was Strome barely a 4th line C for EDM less than 12 months ago?

From my POV, he is a bit slow/immobile. The game is so much about skating, it has a big impact. And he doesn’t really make up for it that much in any other area.

I think Strome can be good for the mediocre, we need someone that can be good for a great team. Wrong horse to bet on.

We're also not at a point in our rebuild where we should feel comfortable giving big extensions to middle-6 players. Top line/top pairing guys in their prime like Panarin and Trouba, sure. Guys like Strome and Namestnikov, not so much.

He deserves a bit better than this.
So do we;)

I have a ton of appreciation and respect for Staal... But, I care more about this team than him, and at this point in his career he doesn’t make us a better team.

I don’t feel bad for Staal at all

He’s a nice guy but he’s a terrible hockey player.

It’s a business after all

The NYR goalie situation reminds me of the Anaheim Ducks in 2013 with Hiller, Fasth, Gibson, and Andersen.

They ended up letting Hiller go to UFA, let Fasth go, and eventually traded Andersen. Turned out to all be correct moves.

If Georgiev is dealt, and I increasingly think that is the way to go, it opens up a spot for Shesty to play 30-35 NHL games next year, and lets both Huska and Wall play significant games in the AHL.

One additional year, Henrik retires, Shesty takes over as the starter, and the winner of the Huska-Wall competition becomes the backup.

you have good days and then bad days with a bruised sternum? There’s no set backs with a bruise. That’s what Quinn said today. That’s not forthcoming. It’s been 2 weeks.

I am happy that this makes the Defense decisions easier for the coaching staff
I am happy that Lindgren and others get to play more and consistently without having to look over their shoulders or live in fear of the next mistake (but sometimes that can be a good motivator in short uses)
I am sad that Marc has an injury that requires surgery, I wish him well
I am happy that it is a seemingly minor injury and he should be fine (rather than something like another concussion that can carry life long effects)

Lets Go Rangers

We can of course only guess, but it feels like a concussion. The last time he missed what a month?

Think the new strategy is just to lie about concussions. Going on record that you had one is not good for the player or the team.

How about Quinn sending someone to rough up Bergeron next time Rangers vs Bruins or rough up Pasta or Marchand. It was a dirty hit in my opinion. Reminded me of the Andersson Bergeron hit from last year.
Someone should do Marchand a favor and take an inch off that nose of his, free of charge.

And you know what Mika looks like when he comes back from injury. Awful. This season can fall apart for him quickly. But worse His history is really bad. I’m concerned.

keep the kid.... what’s happening when Zib is back ? Will Strome shift to RW? Doubt it so he’s blocking a kids development

My point was more a matter of preference if the right deal came along. If I'm Gorton there really isn't much stopping me from trading either or both Strome and Howden... again if the right deal comes along. Which at this point is about more picks and getting some long term depth at wing.

My post had nothing to do with playing time

I saw Finland vs Sweden in the Karjala Tournament.

Puljujärvi played well. There are many people there watching him, he isn’t disappointing. The kid is really big, head taller than most on the ice. Of course quickness is a bit of an issue. But he worked hard, played physical. Was very hard to separate from the puck when he got it. Heavy shot and good puck distribution. He didn’t quite connect on all passes, but nobody does that every night.

It’s easy to see why Gorton would want to take a gamble on him. Replace Fast on Panarin’s line. Pulju could fit in really well on Panarin’s RW.

But a thing to keep in mind is of course that a really young 6’5 forward is not going to drive a line in the NHL. He needs to be in an environment that can get up ice.

You really think that there is a conspiracy theory in play here? Hide a concussion?

Yes, like with every other injury, there can be good days and bad days. And like with every other injury, there can be set backs. A bruised sternum is only 1 million degrees different than a bruise on your arm.

But sure, I can see where there is a vast conspiracy is a much more logical approach.

Catching up and reading on all these posts:

DeAngelo-Let's not trade him yet. Lundkvist hasn't played any games professionally in NA and Keane needs to keep progressing and might get a cup of coffee. Because of DeAngelo's "attitude issues" and also the fact that the Rangers are always at a disadvantage trade wise, what you get for him will not be as good as signing him to another bridge deal. They can find money next year. Keep him and if Lundkvist and Keane are ready or destroying the AHL, you can always trade DeAngelo for something later.

Strome-Depends what he wants but a small raise or at least qualifying him is the right thing to do. He's been very good and consistent since he got here other than the first 5-6 games this season. He won't fetch much trade wise.

Kreider-A trade for him will be similar to Hayes. I see it as a Jost/1st from Colorado, Kotsin/1st from St. Louis, Roslovic/1st from Winnipeg. Barron will in theory replace him in he lineup next season.

Barron plays LW? Since when?
