Yes it is true. Chiassons results with McDavid are atrocious. Look it up on NST in the teammates tab I can’t get them right now. (*3 goals 5 assists in 310 mins) Many of his goals were on the PP. He scored something like 1.2 pts/60 with him, the line had a terrible CF%, and scored less in general.
He played w him on the pp though. If you're isolating the time that you're analyzing to even strength then I think you'll struggle to find productive linemates with mcd besides LD because the oiler offense suffered when relying on anything other than those two together. That's still much the case now. Regardless I believe JP still holds that shiney new toy affect for many teams despite what he's done in NA.

Kinda worried we are winning too much. And on the backs of the vets, not the kids. Panarin, yes, it’s great he’s scoring. Strome? Eh. I guess it’s good for turning him into a trade deadline asset.

But one more top pick of our own would really be good.

Kreider and Fast are tied in points, Fast has a game in hand.

Smith and Howden are tied in points.

McKegg and Haley are tied in points with Andersson.

Disagree. Fox, Chytil, Buchnevich and DeAngelo have been great over the last few games.

There is no such thing as winning too much.

The Rangers are on an 88 point pace. They will get better closer to the playoffs.

you hope that the kids continue to improve and get better later in the year...but depending on how things go heading into the deadline, we could be alot weaker later in the year too.

I agree and ultimately the kids are gonna have a lot to do regarding how this team performs after 82 games. This is the youngest team in the league so it's almost a given that they will have a hand in this team playing well... or poorly.

I think everyone who is anticipating a deadline sell off and another lottery finish may want to step back off the ledge. Let’s see what happens over the next 50 games. Kreider has to be resolved but that is the only sure thing I am seeing right now. Everyone else may stay.
Which is not much different from how most of us viewed it going into the season. One key player (Kreider) who must be moved. A couple of fringe guys (Namestnikov and Vesey) who are already gone. And then, a couple of on the fence guys (Fast, Strome) who may come back or might be dealt depending on offers and their own asking prices. Play the kids, finish as high as they can carry you, and then trust to the lottery again (presuming you miss the playoffs). Pretty straightforward.

What’s more interesting to me is if there are any hockey trades to be made. Getting to the point where they start to make sense...

Agreed.

If Kreider is to be moved, I’d like that to be a hockey trade for a young player or players. Skeji could be moved in a hockey trade. We’ve got enough youth and future draft choices. I’d love to see some good young forwards come back.

Kreider hasn't shown anything to warrant keeping him. Even one of his best positions, in front of the net on the PP is being taken over by Lemmy.

I was hoping for a breakout (like many, for many years). It ain't coming.

I am not even sure if anything been reported, have worked a lot the last week, but we must able to assume that Ziba is having a concussion right?

It’s a bit worrying to say the least. I remember how he after his last concussion said something like “this is something I NEVER want to experience again”, he had simply felt awful for over a month.

What would MTL give up for Skjei?

It'd be nice to pry Caufield from them... Drouin could be another Quinn specialty

If we're trying to get a little crazy... Bern style...
To MTL
Skjei
Kreider
Kravtsov

To NYR
Drouin
Caufield
draft pick

Panarin Zibs Kakko/Strome
Drouin Chytil Buch
Lemieux Howden Kakko/Strome
Smith Nieves Staal

Hajek Trouba
Lindgren Fox
Rykov ADA

Closer to TDL. Who knows what what happens after if all of Kreider, Strome and Fast are moved. There’s no adequate replacement on a farm.

Unlike from possible Skjei trade the only way Kreider is part of a hockey trade is if his move comes with a signed extension.

This is true, though I’m not really sure it’s much different than what most should have expected anyway.

Outside of Kreider, the three primary candidates to be moved were Names, Strome and Fast.

Names is already gone.

I think Kreider still goes.

Strome and Fast could go either way, though I think Strome still gets moved. However, that very well could come in the off-season. Fast I am less sure of.

All in all, I think they know they have to get assets for Kreider and would prefer a young player to a pick.

As for the playoffs, I think this team is right about where I expected. I think they’ll have spurts where they close the gap, then spurts where they fall back. They’ll beat teams they probably shouldn’t and everyone will be elated. Then they’ll lose to teams they shouldn’t and everyone will be expressing their disgust. Push comes to shove, I think they still miss it.

They’ll have moments where everyone will over-project the guys who are doing well, and moments where people will verbally obliterate the guys who are struggling.

This is team is and will make progress. It’s a matter of riding the good with the bad, the starts with the stalling.
