That's nice that some of you guys are aiming for the Byfields and Lefrenieres of the world, but I'm aiming for the Foudys and Sourdifs BECAUSE I WANT THE LAST PICK IN THE FIRST ROUND. Win. Win. Win. Win. I want to win every single game. Playing Staal is not going to help my cause.

Morons. Absolute ****ing morons.

Lias has played with garbage all season long. Not only is he playing with trash wingers, he's barely seeing the ice. Over the last 5 games he's averaged 16 shifts and 10 minutes a game.

If you're seeing the ice 5 times a period for a little over 3 minutes, with crappy wingers, it's hard to get ****ing going.

**** you Quinn. And **** your double standards. Just trade the kid away and let him flourish elsewhere because our coaching staff is too stupid to set a player up for success. They're setting him up for failure and then wondering why he's failing.

Morons.

How can Lias be much better when the little ice time he sees is on the Penalty Kill and with Brendan Smith and Micheal Haley?

Oh this is the chicken and the egg thing is it? It's possible Andersson needs two vets on his line, maybe he isnt fitting into the coaches system at practice, maybe the coach feels he is a little bit over his head for him to move higher in the lineup. It's alright, hes still a kid and it's perfectly normal for him to need time, forcing him into spots he isnt ready for wont help him.

Lias and Howden have yet to show any offensive talent at all. Screw who they play with, they both just dump the puck in and chase. Fast, Howden and Lias are panic stricken line production killers.

Lias has yet to play with anyone of talent, regardless he hasn't shown any offensive flare at all.

A disinterested non leg moving Kreider and a I smell shit faced Buch, Coupled with guys with no Offensive abilities in Lias, Howden and Fast and the Rangers hardly have a one line team.

Plus side is Chytil looks far better than the above mentioned. Kakko looking better as well. I would do everything to motivate Kakko even more, give em top line all night. Fast is not in anyway a top 6 player stop it with this Fast madness.

Panarin - Zib - Kakko
Kreider - Chytil - Buch
Lias - Strome - Fast
Lemieux - Howden - Kegg

I mean, Fogarty and Nieves are not regular NHL players and they get top minutes. So does Lettieri. And other guys like O'Regan. Why not give those minutes to someone who a) could actually have an NHL future and b) has demonstrated he can be productive in the AHL?

There's no reason to keep a kid who is barely of drinking age playing 7 minutes per night or on the bench. Hartford is there for developmental purposes--go develop Lias.

...or ****ing move him.

In agreement with you, just trying to guess what they think.

But tell me this:

Okay, maybe Lias sucks and deserves fourth line minutes. Fine. But there have been games where we've gotten NO offense from the top-9. NONE. Wouldn't you at least TRY Lias in a top-nine role to see if it gets the line going?

Odd that Lindgen is the one sitting out. He has been all around solid. Hajek was awful last game.

I hope Staal is a -2 by the end of the 1st period. Staal should never see the ice unless the defense has more than one injury. such a stupid move. keeping Haley in for Andersson makes no sense.
Well that's one take, RANGERSFAN1994. Hope the team fails because a player is iced who is trying his best but is declining due to his sacrifices. Ok.
If the decision is based on one game, why wasn't Howden scratched when he had 1 bad game? Or Haley. Or Smith. Or Kakko. Or Buchnevich, or Strome. They all had "1 bad game".

I like Howden, but Jesus Christ. This is Vesey under AV all over again.

About Lindgren... What the **** can we say? It makes 0 sense. Quinn was just waiting for a loss so he could put Staal back in. That's all.
That's the problem. His comments are so vague and broad they can apply to anyone. Andersson has gotten zero opportunity so when he fails DQ just shrugs and sits him for not succeeding.

The one Tkachuk goal was a backbreaker with Skjei just watching the play from the side of the net. An unacceptable, zero battle, zero engagement play by a vet under a coach who demands that style of play. It is like you said, we lost so out go the 2 bottom guys on DQ's popularity chart.

The rangers will respond and win tonight. Not because of these moves but because they took a night off against the worst team in the league last time. A ranger quality for decades, play to the other team's level. They are good and pissed, out to prove that they are more like the team that beat the preds. Lundqvist will shut the door after sitting 3 straight. A perfect storm to breed false correlations.

Particularly bad game to put Staal back in imo. I figured he’d be back after a bad loss but Larkin and AA are going to burn him every single shift that Detroit can match either of them up with Staal.

Regarding Lias, send him down for gods sake. This is such an absurd handling of a player his age.

Yeah, because he's the best player of those three. Instead, Smith has been better.

I get your point in the sense that elite players can perform in spite of their linemates. I mean Sindy can drive the play with you and me as his linemates.

But that was never going to be Lias. That's simply not the case with most players. They need help on the wing.

It's the exact same whining Chytil had last year. We have a board of Alzheimer's sufferers.

Andersson is an area in which I very much disagree with Quinn’s approach.
Yeah, I generally approve of what Quinn does, and his approach to handling players. Last season, my quibbles were with over-using Pionk and under-utilizing Andersson. Maybe using Shattenkirk a bit differently.

Whatever Quinn saw in Pionk (which were of course the sames things that made Pionk a commodity coming out of college) seem to be on full display in Winnipeg this year. So, maybe he was right on Pionk, and the problem was something else here? Maybe he's right on Andersson, too.

I don't know. It seems like how they utilize him, it's different than other young players. Some young guys have seemingly been spoon-fed minutes even when they're struggling. Of course there have been benchings and reductions in role for those guys, but with Lias, it just seems like he never really got any type of sustained chance. Which is what I just don't get about it all. You've got a Pionk or a Howden or a Chytil not really demanding a significant role based on their play, yet they got it, anyway. It's like the team really wanted those guys to succeed. With Lias, it doesn't seem like they really want him to succeed (I know they do, it's just hard to actually see the plan for him).

Very sad the way this kid is being handled. Obviously the organization does not think much of him. It just can't be Quinn (albeit I'm not defending Quinn about all of this). We all predicted at beginning of the season there was no way this kid would flourish playing those kind of minutes with those kind of linemates. Now forget about flourishing he's barely surviving.

The issue with Lias isn't that he's sitting. The problem is that Smith and Haley are still in. If there was no room for him, that's one thing. But we got a talentless goon and a defenseman playing over him.

Ridiculous, but standard overreactions. Hajek has more leash than Lindgren so he'll keep playing. Andersson was way, way behind last game in the handful of shifts I saw. None of this is permanently scarring for anyone.

For Staal, this was always happening this way. Not much to say on that.

It's a valid question. And to start the year, or looking at any one game in a vacuum, it's a reasonable defense of the coach's thinking. But after a dozen games, after some absolute team-wide duds, after the constant line shuffling everywhere else, after the chances afforded to other players that haven't really proven they deserve it like Andersson has to... it's a shame the kid hasn't just gotten a few cracks with more opportunity and better linemates.

Part of, and maybe the biggest part of, Quinn's job is to develop and also get the most out of his players. Sometimes a guy needs a confidence boost or some trust to break through. Quinn can preach meritocracy but he isn't consistent, and nor should he be fixed in just one method. And if the Rangers are down on LA, why not just give it a shot with Lemieux and Buch before they cut bait?

I can appreciate Quinn using merit and demanding the team play a certain way, but right now he seems to apply different standards to different players.

This is gonna hurt but Smith is a significantly better player than Lias is at this stage of their careers. That he's a former defenseman, former member of Windsor Tae Kwon Do, or former Herbalife representative doesn't change the first part.

Didn't realize Smith and Haley played Center actually.

I will say there isn’t much defending having Haley in the lineup over McKegg

It’s a very minor personnel thing but McKegg is an NHL player, Haley is not.

And I will continue to say, the way Andersson is being handled points to the organization not being high on him.

Which is disappointing
