He and Kakko don't seem close. Look at his eyes, they're darting back and forth, indicating he is trying to dig up something not rude to say. He just gives a canned answer about being in the WJC together. His eyes relax after the next question. I doubt he's staying with Kakko while getting settled. He also looks like he's 32 already.

f***ing Drury. Destroying one family after another.
I must've missed that joke somewhere.

He basically said "we played together for a couple games"

playing in a WJC team is like 5 games. You're not forming lifelong friendships.

I just read this on FB, is this true?

"Breaking: Appears the Rangers are looking to trade off Zabanejad too. Mika was asked this afternoon by Drury to waive his no trade contract for part of Ducks deal with Jacob Trouba but refused to do so."

“I just… the music scene in NYC is so rich… if I’m going to pursue my dreams, this is the city I want to be in. If I have to play hockey on the side to support my family while I grow my skills on the turntables - and hair - to be like the GOAT Steve Aoki, than so be it. I want to be in NY”.

I honestly like our outlook better if we traded Igor. It is what it is. Landing a player like Tkachuk seems unlikely because of this.

With Cuylle breaking out, ( meaning bigger AAV next contract ) I don't see a way to retain Kakko unfortunately unless we get a cheap top4 LHD.

We have to sign KAM, Kakko and Cuylle. While upgrading our top4LHD. I don't see a realistic path unless Mika is moved

I like Mika to Chicago though.

@NYR Viper has had the best, most realistic trade targets all week and identified plenty of good buy low candidates who we could realistically afford/see as returns for the types of baggage we’re looking to offload. Been dropping a like on all his posts but it deserves a bit more recognition. Not every player is one I specifically want, but he hasn’t suggested a single player that hasn’t felt both realistic and smart lately.

I appreciate this man, thanks. Next week I’ll revert to Bern jr

I'm merely responding to the assumption that he's another Finn, so he must know Kakko well. Oh, they brought in another Finn so Kakko has someone to talk to.

And people very well can form instant friendships that last their lifetimes.

Those two sentences are very different though.
Bringing in a Finn and them helping kakko feel more comfortable can be true, even if they dont know him well now.
On a WJC team where the entire team was finnish, there were probably cliques like everywhere.
On a rangers team where there are exactly 2 people who speak finnish? It helps bond guys.

Kakko is probably traded, rangers have so many wingers and other needs that he’s makes no sense to keep. Get something back and flip it for a LD. Perreault, Othmann, and Berard all on the team with Panarin, Lafreniere, and Cuylle. Kreider still potentially here.

They might bond, or they might not. Who knows? It's just online forum fun to imagine two Finns will automatically become buddies. I don't take any of this seriously.

If the rumors about JT Miller leaving Vancouver due to personality issues with his teammates are true, I expect Drury will continue to try to add him.
Canucks asked about Kreider & Trouba according to Vancouver radio. I bet there’s a trade to be made there.
Vancouver and all Canadien teams likely on Kreider no trade list. Only way he would go would be if his friend JT stayed.

CK's best fit is in Dallas.
Mika's best fit is in Vancouver.

Mika’s best fit is either home on his couch or Skelleftea or some SHL club, until he can screw his head back on and overcome whatever is happening with him. He isn’t that old, hasn’t had injury problems and I don’t think his physical skills have declined that much. Like Ovie (yes, freak of all freaks, but still…) is 39 and his one timer is still automatic. Zib’s 31 (?) and I really don’t think he “lost” the ability to score on his one timer at 29.5 or whenever it started falling off. Everything going on with him is between his ears and that sucks because it’s anyone’s guess as to whether he can/will fix it or not.

He’s just such a f***ing sad sack, it hurts to watch. Okay bro… you (supposedly) exercised your NMC and you have control over staying here, where you want to be. You’re a 31 year old dude with a beautiful wife, playing a sport for a living, making insanely good money AND having success in your hobby doing music on the side. We lost in ECF a couple of times and there’s expectations and pressure on the team now, and yes, you may even see some friends traded away. They’re not being f***ing murdered. You can still use yours millions of dollars to see them in the off-season and vacation in wild places together most of us will never dream of. It’s not like being deployed in the military, making friends in the desert while risking your life and then being sent back home to never see those people again. Or being stationed somewhere a couple years and then getting orders to a new base and having to say goodbye to everyone. It’s a little like that, except you’re making 8.5M to play hockey, not $48k to get shot at. Like… just f***ing go play hockey. Whatever it is. Maybe be lost a step, but he hasn’t had any real physical decline. It’s between the ears and you’re in such a good place in life. Just go play hockey and enjoy it you f***ing tool bag.

Kreider seems like a fit in Dallas at first, but I don’t think he is. They have Hintz, Robertson, Duchene, Johnston, Benn, Stankoven, Marchment, Dadanov, Bourque and Seguin is still under contract so he’ll be back and they’d still have to fit it all. That’s 10 top-nine forwards already and they want Bourque and Stankoven getting minutes. I see a better fit in Minnesota with his friend Zucc, or in Buffalo where he’s not too far from NY/BOS, would instantly be a big leader in the room and would have a lot less pressure.

Buyout proof and full NMC. 85 of 92M in the form of signing bonuses… does that mean essentially league minimum actual salary and all bonuses? Because 92 - 85 = 7 and it’s an 8 year deal so his actual salary is less than 1M per season and it’s ALL bonuses.

Do we have any professional body language experts in the house?

Mollie said it in passing yesterday amid the chaos. He was asked to waive his NMC and he said no.

In all seriousness can you share where that report came from? The only thing that I saw her share was that he had not yet been asked to waive it.

I think you missed the other important part here that there were actual teams and GMs that said that he left money on the table. I said in the summer that 8 for 12.5 was the Target so that he could hit 100 million. And I was saying through the last while that there are teams that will pay more than what he will sign for here. You just got confirmation about that

full value
full nmc
fully buyout proof
It's not full value, the reports literally are confirming that he left money on the table and those reports are based on talking to other teams. There are literally other teams that have said that they would have paid more money for the guy

it means $875k base salary each year (7 divided by 8 is 0.875). The rest is bonuses divied out over the years.

What, her tweet about it? It was one her tweets yesterday.

She said yesterday that he had not been asked to waive it. Somebody else just said that she put out a report that he was asked to waive at but he said no. Those are two different things.
