bang up job by Drury. upset the whole locker room and go into the season with a worse team with all the Trouba BS instead of just waiving him in the summer then as the team looks like it's basically completely fallen apart, trade him away and then turn immediately around and give a 29 year old goalie who isn't even playing well an insane contract. this guy will never have another front office job when he's done here. you couldn't do any worse than this.

To me, I’m only fine with this contract specifically because Trouba is gone.

It’s not even about the contract.

It’s the idiocy of literally just repeating the exact same mistakes of the past. Igor on a huge contract will take up too much cap at a position that is at least 30% a crap shoot while ensuring that we always have a better record than we should, thereby ensuring we continue to field shit rosters that are artificially propped up by all-world goaltending and we will be every single bit as mediocre as we were during Hank’s tenure.

We just f***ed ourselves. Igor is a great goalie. It’s not about Igor. This roster ISN’T good enough, period. Igor could be the greatest goalie to ever lace them up, make people forget Hasek, etc. even existed, and he still won’t drag this roster to a Cup. But now we’re guaranteed to do nothing but draft in the 15-25 range for the next decade and improve f*** all. He just signed on to waste his entire career as well. Money clearly more important than winning, because otherwise I’d be asking 12M from NYR and willing to take 10M from Colorado, for example. We just committed to being losers for the next 9 years.

As you should. Time and time again it's been shown this isn't a position you should invest huge money into. Now we'll likely be paying Igor a ridiculous amount well into his decline because in all likelihood that'll be another GM's problem.

You nailed it. This roster isn't good enough to be investing $11.5M into a goalie. Full stop.
