Much better than I expected. No moving of prospects or picks to take on Jacob's contract. No retention of salary. I don't expect a whole lot from Vaakanainen. He was a 1st rounder some years back but he's got to be somewhere around 25 but he's never really solidified and NHL job. He might be a bit better than the guys we have in Hartford. Maybe not. But probably at least as good as someone like Connor Mackey who's not bad as a callus option. Hopefully Urho's a little better. The 4th is good too though I wonder what that's conditional on. Maybe they have more than one 4th rounder and it'll be whichever is higher or lower.

We have a shitload of cap space to work with for the rest of the year.

This is a great move as long as they utilize the cap space correctly. I'd be wary of immediately dumping it for a Lindgren extension (don't @ me GoAwayPanarin, I don't want it either) or Igor contract.

Don't really want a decent Miller extension either unless we can sneak him in around 4-5.

Man it would be cool if Urho (not even attempting the last name) is one of those late bloomers hwo becomes a quality NHLer after changing teams a couple times. One can dream.

Ill continue stumping for Buffalo trades. Byram, Tuch, Greenway, etc. Could see them having interest in Kakko and Lindgren types. Guys who may not have the role or future they want in NY and would be open to extending in Buffalo where their skillsets fit better.

No retention is a huge W. Great job by Drury as long as he is not done. Team needs to trim a couple more leeches. Getting out of the full cap hit is great but I’ll be very disappointed if there isn’t another move or two before Christmas.
