… One, they have no cap space. They have 14M in dead cap due to the fact that they bought out two unmovable contracts with lots of term left on Ryan Suter and Zach Parise. They also have Zuccarello out with a ruptured testiscle. Two, they’re just the Wild. When have they ever been the Wilds? When have they ever been in the Eastern Conference, for that matter? We’re being nit picky and annoying, clearly. Three, no one said “The Rangers should do what they do”…I said this is the attitude we want to see from our players.

Also, with Zucc out and all that dead cap, they have a combined 6.25M cap hit for their goaltending and lead the NHL in points. They’re relevant right now. I’m noticing a large amount of your posts are referencing past accomplishments as justifications for cheerleading current problems. Mika WAS 9th in goals from 2017-present. How is THAT relevant to today?

The point of the post, however,
isn’t “herr derr look how happy and carefree they are lol”. It’s that he says, specifically, “come after our big dogs we’re gonna come after yours and we’re gonna play longer and we’re gonna play harder than you are”. I’m pretty sure you don’t need to “be in the ECF, or even relevant” to point at that attitude and say, that’s the attitude we’d like to see from the Rangers.

Sooooo, maybe shove it.
It was relevant to the ongoing discussion about his past.

I suspect it's a waiver.

Or that nothing happens and this lingers.
I think it might be waivers tomorrow.

If it was waivers today why announce him not playing tonight. You just hold him back from practice and by the time 2pm rolls around it’s over.

This is he’s not playing tonight and the move happens tonight/tomorrow

Nothing is really stopping them from putting him on waivers tomorrow or later now that he is away from the team. If nothing materializes they can waive him next week. Im sure they prefer to not let it linger (shoutout the Cranberries)

I never said he was dead weight. If it seems I inferred it, I apologize. I want the team to improve. Kakko is an unsigned RFA that isnt happy with his role. In the NHL, guys like that get traded all the time. If the team is looking to make move, which they obviously are, types like him and K'andre who is in the same boat, are on the table. It's not personal.
yea i don't mean to get on you but unless we are getting better by trading him, i see him firmly as part of the solution. Middle 6 wing who plays a grindy playoff style game and has some production upside. Needs to shoot more (and better) but he is a player that contributes to winning. Why trade him just to trade him

I think one of the biggest lessons of Drury’s tenure is that he has zero capacity to manage rumors involved with operating a media-focused franchise. Every trade target rumor has festered, every retread has been a focal point (Kane, Buchnevich, Miller, Tarasenko), every veteran with trade protections has become a subject of locker room scrutiny. His management of the roster and its assets aside, he has allowed himself to be portrayed as totally incompetent from a media standpoint.

I envisioned him and Miller going in a package for a real upgrade. Brady T potentially.

We are really going to find out in the next few games who is all in and who is checked out. I want many players on this team to prove me wrong, but I have to see it first.

I don't think he cares. Rarely holds a presser. Doesn't feel the need to explain or defend himself.

He also takes absolutely terrible penalties.

I also wouldn’t trade him 1:1 for Laf.
Who’s younger and out produced him at 5v5 last year.

A leader doesn’t cost your team wins. He does.

That’s why we’re shipping out Trouba.

I don’t need a skilled Sean Avery.
Again - for an elite, culture-changing 25 year old talent who has Tkachuk as his last name, there isn't a single player in this entire organization I wouldn't move for him.
