Isn't this exactly what Tampa did with McDonagh? Not sure why Friedman is bringing up an example from 20 years ago
Pretty much. They said, "we've got this or these trades lined up, take your pick or we'll waive you and you will end up in Columbus."

This whole situation is an absolute mess. Waiving 2 players with clauses to get out of them claimed is both hilarious and such a crap move by the organization that they better hope future contracts don't bite them in the ass.

With that said, I don't care. He needs to go and he should have left in the off season.

It’s really not though. Not sure why the player exercising their rights within their contract is justified but a team doing the same thing in the best interest of their club is “crappy”.

Both are looking out for number one - themselves.

I guess we can assume that Drury has knowledge that somebody will claim Trouba should he be waived. Or else, what's the point? We can only bury $1 million if nobody claims him.

He still could done those others moves lol this whole Trouba nuked Drury doing literally anything else is nonsense

But that’s all I’ll say
You need the players on the roster to make those moves.

I'll say it a different way, trouba salary goes out, salary comes back, salary that came back is bought out with second buyout window...

This is the NHL where 80% of the teams brass have to pour ice down their pants whenever someone shows a clip of a Bob Probert fight.

There will always be a few.
You forgot to paint the pic of the crowd all 19,000 of them sitting down and booing or rushing for the exits during one of those fights....oh wait....you can't ! Still same modern day ! You need to find a good solid Rec league in your area and support it...sponsor a team even . Keep this in mind....as long as they play 5 on 5 on the small ice surface there will be fights much to your chagrin because of the speed and the size of players and hockey being a full body contact sport and sometimes when you don't expect it . Hits happen & emotions flare and fights happen......it is better to be prepared for that than not ! That is how I see it . All those attending games cannot be wrong when they are standing up at a hockey fight.....can they ????? That seems like a bit more than a few .

While i'm in total agreement with what Drury is doing this is why you can't get mad at a player for not taking a hometown discount. This business is brutal.
