Don't think Kakko on the first line is a great idea just yet but hoping he'll take advantage of the oportunity and never looks back.

Panarin - Strome - Buchnevich could work too. Need more from all three (and I think it's there), especially from the Russians.

Don't get why Andersson is not given a look-see at 3C. Howden has done nothing to "stake" it as his.

Maybe they want to let Chytil really get comfortable in the AHL before another callup- instead of just rushing him back up since he's on a hot streak.

NYR probably aren't expecting to make the playoffs this season- one more year of selling off assets at the deadline. Maybe they can find a move for Skjei late in the season and give Lindgren/Rykov a shot in the last 20 games. Im officially on the trade Skjei bandwagon.

I don't think Skjei knows what kind of defenseman he is / should be. Given puckmoving, offensive defensemen now on the team and in the prospect pool, I'd rather he concentrated on purely defensive responsibilities.

Thought it was later round picks or prospects in addition to the first. I think they wanted a Hayes type deal.

Hayes was moved for a pick that should have probably been in the late 20's, plus Lemiuex who's a good prospect but not a great prospect.

Newhook was considered a top-10 pick in a lot of insiders mock drafts.

Chris Kreider’s Potential Trade To Colorado Complicates An Already Sticky Situation

We can debate whether or not it’s smart for Jeff Gorton to be looking to move on from the winger, but this much is certain: the Friedman comment above changes a lot of things about the situation. This is not a rumor, and it’s not some insiderrr on Twitter talking about how a deal was about to go down. This is Elliotte Friedman, maybe the most connected insider in the NHL bar none, saying “the Avalanche were unwilling to include their 16th pick in last year’s draft” which insinuates had they been willing to do so Kreider would be in Denver already.

Chytil dominated that game Saturday I mean dominated it. At will skated around setting up teammates for shots. Had a few great rushes of his own rang the bar in the third period, scored the tying goal than walked around a dman to set up his teammate for the game winner.

he also set the screen on Keanes goal earlier. Couldn’t do anything about him in front too big and strong.

I mean this is very encouraging he’s barely 20 and dominating at this level. He won’t be there long.

If he keeps it up, I imagine we'll see him up sometime in Nov. I think the plan was to send him/Kravtsov down for at least a month and then take it from there.

A Skjei move is likely an offseason trade. Not sure a team would want to move for him at the deadline with that kind of term. It also limits the teams we are dealing with. Not many teams out of it would be giving up assets, especially picks in a draft coming up, for a player with term.

His contract is like the Stepan deal, except with a NTC instead of a NMC. Free reign to make a move before the UFA years of the deal come into play.

With all the youth we do have a LHD in the pipeline, it makes sense to move him out, but let's try and see what these guys do for a season before moving a player that is ideally a team's #4.

Still like Colorado as a destination for Kreider, but unless he's going with an extension, there's almost no chance that Newhook comes back in the deal. 1st and a B prospect like Bowers or perhaps Kaut if they think he's fallen down the depth chart. Maybe you can pry a young player like Jost off their hands if he continues to struggle in the NHL and you're willing to take a lower pick.

I just don’t see Colorado trading for him now. I think Sakic is the kind of guys who says screw it and waits to see if he just hits free agency

What if we added two seconds to Kreider for Newhook?

Probably an overpayment on our end and not particularly enticing to Colorado. They have a nice core group and Newhook is their likely heir to Kadri down the middle if things go well. A couple of future picks doesn't do a whole lot for their current group unless they had deals lined up to flip them.

I'd be more inclined to target someone like Kaut

That's like Kreider straight up for Kaut. And the Avs might not even do that. Idk.

If we trade Kreider to the Avs for a 1st + , that's a #27-31 pick. Would be sweet to end up with Kaut though.

Colorado looks to be ready for a run this year, they cashed in big time in last year's draft and are pretty much set up. If they keep up the pace, they will be buyers at the deadline and Kreids should be a piece they would dearly want. (I suppose Kreids knows it's coming, gotta stay healthy to be a trade chip)

Puuijarvi and 1st for Kreider. It's a gamble but if Puuijarrivi can turn it around its 2 first rounders.

The team's getting 3 shots a period so I'm not sure the shakeup trade is moving Kreider for nothing (at the NHL level).

Maybe it'll be Kreider, Andersson or Howden, and maybe something else for a Schmaltz, D. Strome, Galchenyuk, Domi kind of piece
