Miller is kind of a bonehead sometimes but he just has so many of those tools that our team sorely lacks. If you get rid of him it makes our already immobile blueline even more immobile.
He’s been awful so far though. How is possible he was out there for every goal against yesterday? He can carry the puck through the neutral zone well, that’s about it.

I think this is the first time Lavi is really pissing me off.

He had something that worked with the def pairs at the beginning of the season. Lindgren got rushed back into the lineup and we just had to accommodate him. Miller / Fox, Schneider / Trouba had great numbers. Even Trouba was putting points on the board. I don't understand why we can't drop Lindgren back with Jones or Mancini. The Rangers continue to reinvent the wheel in the most asinine ways. Do they just ignore the numbers?

That Mika interview is heartbreaking. This guy really cares (you don't do a 7 minute interrogation without wanting to atone), is totally lost, and his everything suggests his instincts have failed him.

I remember Lindros just fell off a cliff when the concussions robbed his hand-eye coordination and he couldn't do anything fine with the puck anymore. I gotta wonder if it's the same thing, his brain is saying do one thing and his body's not following through.

He also looks... frail.

I would not be surprised if he retired in a couple years.

Someone needs to just tell Mika to stop passing. Period. Shoot the puck if it's on your stick and you have a clear shot to the net. He also needs to be told on the PP, he can one-time it, but not blast it. He missed a gaping net last night because he's trying to blast it through the net and flubs on it. Meanwhile, guys like Ovi barely get the stick over their heads and can pot that shot on the PP with finesse, rather than power.

Yea I don't disagree. It's just that carrying the puck through the neutral zone may literally be our biggest weakness. Like if I were GM, yea sure I'd trade Miller. I'd bet other GM's around the league would probably over value him based off being a young guy with awesome tools. But I'd be doing that knowing what kind of player I want to replace him with. As a fan however, knowing the type of players the Rangers tend to go after, I'm less than enthused by the prospect of trading away one of our best skaters

Trading Miller doesn't fix our defense. Fixing the system fixes our defense. The entirety of our D-core in the D-zone, despite the lines, have trouble clearing the zone, skating it out of the zone, and will just dump it to the neutral zone for an immediate turnover or up the boards for another turnover.

Ours is absolutely bottom 10, maybe worse.

Mika isn't the only player totally lost under this bonehead coach.

Also, Mika does look frail. This is a guy who was listed as 230 pounds at one stage if memory serves. Sure he was never that but he's clearly been diminishing physically over the last few seasons.

Florida players LOVED coach Q because he, whatever else you think of him, fixed this issue for them. He thought them how to transition out of their own zone with speed and cohesion.

"I just felt off" - Mika at the circle
This is somewhat concerning, is he suffering from a concussion again?

Regarding Miller, not trading him, it's our system, not one dman succeeds in it.
I thought that was in regards to him shitting himself and going off the ice. Maybe I listened poorly.

Some of this talk gets way overblown. Im very down on Mika as we all are, but a combo of Zib/Tro/ Fil down the middle is pretty darn good... I really wish Lav would have left the lines alone at the start of the season. I thought the Bread and Fil lines were amazing... either Mika and Kreider figure it out or they just play less

The defense is the biggest issue

Here
I think we REALLY overestimate how fragile the lockerroom is. They're adults and professionals they will survive.
You said the room was fine dealing with a contract negotiation, all I said it’s not the same thing as healthy scratching a captain.

I think that’s pretty obvious.

What I didn’t say was how the room would melt down if he was. The point of my original post has been twisted.

All I am saying is Mika should be held accountable for his shitty play, but sitting him all together manufactures an unnecessary distraction for the team.

He is done. Certain players just fall out of nowhere. He seems like that what has happened with Mika sadly.

It is not like his skating and mobility is helping him defensively. Always looks lost on the defensive size of the puck. Skating and mobility is nice but if you don’t use it to your advantage, what good is it?

That’s the the thing whhich is so incredibly frustrating with Miller, though. He’s a collection of attributes (tools), but rarely are they put into great effect. It’s nice to have great tools but if they sit in the garage all the time they are useless.
