This one is 30 year old Mario Kempe (had to look it up because I thought the same)Isn't Kempe in LA?

Probably want Beleskey to get in some game action before challenging for a spot.I agree I dont understand waiving Beleskey over McLeod. I really dont.
Also, my interest in Nylander is growing by the day.

Could've used a conditioning stint for that.Probably want Beleskey to get in some game action before challenging for a spot.
Think we'll know more about how the team values him if he clears.
He's 50% retained at roughly $1.9mWhen he clears. Beleskey is owed $3.9m this year AND next. Nobody is taking that contract unless it’s a dump to trade for something else.

Seems like a waste of cap space to me. Yeah, I think cap space won't eventually be a factor for the Rangers this season, can't think of a compelling reason to be reckless with it in this case.Could've used a conditioning stint for that.
Maybe he should actually show that he deserves more first?
I don't know. 1.9 is very manageable, especially considering you can bury roughly 50% of that cap hit in the minors. If he doesn't work, you're left with less than a million in dead space. You’re right, totally forgot. Still don’t see him getting claimed at $1.9m given his struggles in Boston.

Having trouble understanding. I think what you're saying is you don't see cap being an issue for the team this year, but why waste the $ on this just in case? Which I can agree with. I think that cap space won't ultimately be an issue for the team, but they should still preserve it wherever they can, for many reasons.Having trouble understanding. And hopefully he continues that in Hartford.I thought Belesky looked decent in pre-season until his injury.
If he were a free agent, would you consider giving over $3 million over a two year contract to a guy coming off 12 points in 35 AHL games?Beleskey makes $2m in real salary this season and $1.5m next year. Average $1.75m in real money and he has had ~10% paid as we are ~10% of the way into the season so that would be ~$200,000 of the $2m already paid. ~$1.8m left this year, $1.5m next year.
That's not a horrible deal for a team looking for some edge and to take on a veteran forward who may be able to return something at this or next years deadline. Especially if he puts up 8-10g and provides some tenacity and aggressiveness on a lower line.
If you love "tough" guys, yeah. He is one of the few that knows how to actually play hockey. And hopefully he continues that in Hartford.

We can retain also correct? Reduce that cap hit further. I don't think he's part of a solution for us... just hoping to get another asset for him this yr or next. And hopefully he continues that in Hartford.
