Chychrun isn’t that good but if you’re dealing Lindgren for him it may make sense for both teams .

Miller , Fox
Chychrun Schneider

Trading a player who plays through pain for a player who gets hurt every year. I’d rather resign Lindgren. I’d trade Miller before Lindgren as Miller might have more interest and higher upside in a trade.

Yea maybe but it’s 1 yr left on Chychrun

Ottawa is a team that will have change

If they take Goodrow with Joseph back that would be a good move

2 guys I want from Sens might not be available in Tkachuk and Grieg. I’d like Zub out of their defense, but does he play the Left side.

I'm perfectly fine pursing upgrades on defense through UFA's this off-season and seeing what shakes free next off-season as UFA's. It's a gradual process but Roy and Dillon in this off-season, kick the major LD acquisition down the road to either the deadline when someone is selling or next off-season.

Let Jones play.

Trade Lindgren and Trouba for picks/prospects/depth
Sign Roy and Dillon
At the deadline see who is being moved, ideally, it's someone like Provorov or Chychrun, use Jones as a key piece in that deal once he shows he can play and provide real value.

Did Provorov bounce back in CBJ?

His game tanked when he was on his way out in Philly.

Nah, he still sucks.

.....
Lindgren being 26 doesn't really matter, he's taken way more punishment than the average 26 year old has taken and its clearly had an impact on his game. There is no special connection or bond or fit here, thats all stuff thats been drummed up by MSG and the fact that they played together at the NTDP. He's performed better with other partners including guys who are seen by the majority as bottom pair defensemen. The fact that Karlsson had a defensive D as a partner 10 years ago and Leetch had one even longer ago is irrelevant. The game has changed since then and if you can't aid transition at all, you really shouldn't be playing top 4 minutes.

You claim not to be a Lindgren apologist, but you're making a ton of excuses for him since apparently everyone (Fox, the forwards, the system, God) is at fault for his lack of performance but Lindgren himself...
See, did you need to include this paragraph in your post? There're plenty reasons to justify upgrading on Lindgren, and specifically at this point in time but your argument for physical regression at the age of 26 doesn't hold water and makes people skeptical of the whole post or needlessly derail the discussion. You make this specifically for Lindgren that goes against what we know on the issue of regression. Yes, he's on a smaller side, yes he's taking physical punishment and player in similar circumstances show eventual regression. But this regression happens nowhere age 26. Why special case for Lindgren? He hasn't had career threatening injuries, he doesn't have a habit of missing significant parts of the season due to injuries (e.g. Chytil). So making Lindgren "special" just illustrates your bias rather than an objective view.

It's not toughness, exactly, but it isn't skill either. We have plenty of skill. The issue is that some of our skilled players wilt when things get tougher.

We need more players who can get to the middle and score dirty goals around the net, guys who are stronger on the cycle and in board battles.
You're right but I'd say specifically we have a whole in the lineup and so we need just one of such player (the top-6 RW spot) but this is the the second order of business after addressing improvement on D.

Larry with a doozie. And he isn't wrong.

Larry reads the nasty vitriol that sets tone for high percentage of posts here. He's absolutely right in this take.
