Whichever RW we acquire, he's going to have a massive project on his hands to pull Kreider and Zibanejad's heads out of their asses.
They need either 1) a solid play driver / possession player or 2) an elite forechecker.

Eberle might be the only guy available good at the former. I don’t think Vatrano is good enough at the latter.

Just edited my comment because it glitched out on mobile. I really didnt even mean that as an insult, nothing personal. It was more “hey we’re just a bunch of oafs on here speculating baselessly about this stuff”.

It’s crazy to say that a 19 year old doesn’t understand honor or commitment because he chose to make like 5 times as much money at home on the other side of the world as opposed to being benched repeatedly in the AHL. And I’m not some huge Kravtsov guy. I just hate when people default to calling young players divas and whiners whenever anything goes wrong despite it happening repeatedly with this team
No worries bud.
I’m not saying he didn’t have legitimate reasons to do what he did, but the bottom line is that he did quit on his teammates. That is just factual. He made a choice. And that choice was to quit and go home/make more money. And he then did it again the next year when he didn’t have a contractual right. Of course Drury could not know that Krav would do it again, but I’d say he correctly identified Krav as a quitter and I have zero problem with him calling Krav out. Krav did what I’m sure he thought was best for HIMSELF, and everyone s free to do that. What we aren’t, is free from is criticism for the decisions we make. As far as I remember we have had two actual malcontents who wanted out of the org, Krav and Anderson. And honestly I don’t blame the team for either. They both seem to have thought they were way better than they actually were and were entitled to opportunities they didn’t earn. Neither is even an NHLer.

The Stars had an issue with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. They were great together and then they were shit. The Stars broke them up a few years ago after upper management and ownership publicly criticized them. Seguin is playing with Marchment and Duchene. Benn has been playing with Johnston for the last two seasons. The Stars brought in Pavelski in 2019 as a free agent instead of keeping Zuccarello. Hintz and Robertson emerged as the Stars best forwards with Pavelski on their line.

The Rangers are stuck. Did Hintz and Robertson emerge by themselves or did the Stars give them the opportunities? The Rangers run out Kreider and Zibanejad in every situation and it's hard for other players to emerge.

The Rangers are a weird club. 2nd most wins in the NHL. 2nd most points in the NHL. They look good on paper. The media says Drury has to go for it. Who are the Rangers acquiring who moves the needle? The Rangers need a RW, C and another D. Drury has depleted the draft pick assets. Drury is filling all of those needs by Friday??????

Mika and Chris are the Rangers versions of Seguin and Benn.

He’s almost a pt a game so hope we can get another one of those losers this week
Zibanejad is one of my favorite Rangers in the last 10 years and have his jersey, but he’s not playing well. He gets his points because he gets a lot of Powerplay time and he’s talented, but you can’t stay he’s giving his all right now. If he was forechecking hard and getting chances but just snakebit that would be a different story.

He will fill at least 2 of the 3 and getting more NHL players will help fill the voids and move players down to where they should be and replace an AHLer in Brodzinski with an NHL version that actually does something on the ice. It will just make the entire team better and deeper. The most likely additions are at center and RW. This summer is when they take an honest look at the D. I still think there is a chance both Lindgren and Trouba are traded.

The Rangers did not play poorly last night. It was a playoff type game. Igor was great. Every team has holes somewhere. Every one of them. And yet there are posters with the doom and gloom posts as if they got rocked last night and are frauds. They don’t just look good on paper, they look good on the ice.

I do agree, someone needs to intervene and break up Kreider/Zibanejad. It must happen and now while there is time to find the right combinations.

They are only in real need of 2 pieces. RW and 3C. The D would be great but they may run out of assets and/or a desire to pay the prices. I wouldn’t mind a Gudas type. Gus makes one great outlet and then a terrible defensive play last night.

The Team is right there with the rest of the league.

I think Kreider has been fine....Mika subpar for most of the year. Looking at their roles on the line.....Mika is more the guy moving the puck around to the wings....there's more dependence for them from him than the other way around yet Kreider's production stats are where they should be even if his goals are a little down. His play away from the puck has been good too.

Some times players have off seasons and get a new breath of life when playoffs begin. That's my hope for Mika now and even if he's not having his best season he's still a very good player and the Rangers have had a really good year. Going in to the season I was expecting the Rangers to be third in their division behind Carolina and New Jersey. Carolina still has a chance to overtake us but it's no longer even a good chance. Making up 6,7, 8 points at this time of year is a tough ask.

The production is there from Kreider on special teams. At 5v5 he is just plain bad. Especially in his own end. I don’t know if he is hurt, or its a matter of father time, or even just him managing his efforts knowing at this juncture the rigors of a long season. But I dont see Zibanejad’s efforts the same as others. I have read opinions that Zibanejad looks disengaged and disinterested — I actually have that assessment of Kreider. I think Zibanejad, to a point, has been more physical than in years past. That could be driven by frustration but I just see him playing with the effort and the results are not there. I also think he isn’t shooting enough to break out of the 5v5 slump. Kreider on the other hand is a black hole in his own end with the board play and spatial coverage. He constantly p***yfoots plays with the puck in his own end. He did it multiple times last night. He just looks completely soft out there. He doesn’t finish checks, like ever. When he does they just seem so random. Most of the time its a fly by for him.

Kreider is and has been my favorite player since he broke in. But he has been polarizing these past couple years, this year more than any other year.
