Playing around a bit this morning.

Trouba to Nashville for Lauzon + 2nd '24 + 2nd '25 + 3rd '25
Goodrow to Chicago for 3rd + 4th
Kakko + Robertson to Philly for Farabee

I'm 100% behind dumping Trouba and adding Roy. Even at 4.5-5M

We need a top4 LHD. Lindgren is not the answer. Chychrun or Theodore.

It's a complete revamp of D-corps and it's a must.

I don't disagree with you at all, but I'll say I'm more in the 'wait and see' on the LD spot than on RD. Roy would be a real good, low-key great signing for this defense and he's available for just money. If someone is available for a reasonable amount to fill that LD spot, I could be swayed but I'm not in favor of emptying the cupboard for who is rumored to maybe be available.

When I look forward, I could see an argument for signing someone like OEL or Dillon, guys who could be 4/5 d-men and provide a veteran presence but then where do they play? I feel like Jones is ready and what he brings is more unique and required once Gustafsson leaves, which is likely. Then there is Miller who is obviously staying and then there is the top-pairing spot.

All of this is moot if they plan on seeing Miller with Fox though.

Now, if that's the plan, I'm more inclined to see what Lindgren would return and find someone to play there. Then you're looking kind of at that middle-pairing range guy who may not cost 1st + Othmann +. Maybe someone like Byram or Middleton as both need new deals after this year.

he's been our worst defenseman. worse than Trouba.

Funny to want to bring back skjei. Miller is pretty much at the same point in his development as skjei was when a majority of this board wanted to run him out of town(and nyr did) maybe let the 24 yo top 4 d continue to develop, and keep him away from trouba? He was great away from him in the first 2 rounds minus 1 game.

I dont remember Skjei ever being dumb. Like Miller just constantly makes the wrong reads, isnt physical and relies on his long reach.

Chychrun is vastly overrated and always hurt. He has a Trouba like trajectory.

I warned everyone here about Trouba back in 2019 and I was ridiculed and laughed at. He was a 3 not a 1.

The move is to poach one of the Canes D other than Skjei and sign a center. The kids can take the wings or they can take a flyer on a skilled winger like a Beauvilier and hope he figures it out.

I can see something around Kakko for this kid and a pick. Nashville has a lot of draft capital.

So why does everyone always list Edstrom as a center? How much did he play in Hartford? I thought he's a wing at the NHL level Unless they're trying to turn him into Goodrow 2.0?
