trading Schneider to accommodate them would be a disaster.

having 2 good pairs would be better than having 1. I'd like to see how they perform for a few games. side note, Trouba and Lindgren should be barred from pinching.

The ideal world imo is to trade Lindgren+ for Chychrun/Hanifin types. Put Gus with Trouba.

KAM Fox
Hanifin/Chychrun Schneider
Gus Trouba

You can't have Trouba sucking up $8m on the third pair.

Also one thing to remember is that we shouldn't really put any stock into any rumors that are out there.

The FO keeps a lid on everything and most of what is being talked about on the web are just people trying to connect the dots between what the Rangers need and who the available fits are.

They're just numbers that threaten people who either

A. Don't want to take the time to do a little bit of reading
B. Have their biases challenged
C. Find out that their favorite team may not be as good as they think they are

Plus they've gotten better in hockey over the last few years. CF/FF% is a thing of the past and when you apply the newer stuff to good teams of the past, you find out that those teams were still good.

Analytics exist in every other sport. They've existed in baseball forever and they're huge in basketball. There is some noise from baseball fans in regards to this (which is dumb because the most successful teams of the last decade have been heavy into analytics) but you don't hear the uproar from fans of other sports against analytics like you do hockey fans.
Analytics may theoretically work for baseball, but they turned the sport into an unwatchable mess. The NBA has been unwatchable for over 25 years, so I'm not sure what role analytics play there.

Viewership shot up like a mother f***er last year which would lend one to believe that the real culprit was that it took way to f***ing long for actual action to happen.

He’s going to get rentals, you just have to hope he acquires good players, and not just add grit and size as a players top feature.
He generally hasn't done that at the deadline so far. Or at all, aside from Blais but he was decent before the injury.

Vatrano and Copp had skill. The two idiots last year were idiots for a different reason. Gustafsson was a great moneyball signing of a skilled player.

The gritty players we've drafted since Drury is in the front office can play.

I certainly hope these trends continue.

Apparently 2 posts I had about not dealing Rempe got deleted for having too many NOs.

Succinctly NO
to dealing Rempe

We finally get coupla guys w/size and speed who are making a noticeable impact + have beyond 4th line upside,
but NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
and btw this ^, a la John Belushi counts as a single no.

stop it guys.
Rempe + Edstrom are part of the solution not the problem
they are both keepers for the immediate future

Yea, I’m not down on Drury, not sure if he should be giving up assets for rentals, but it’s going to happen, so better to just accept it, and hope he gets good players.

To be fair I haven't watched a full game since the Mets went on that run in 2015. It might be better with the rule changes, not that I would know what they are, but unless teams stopped striking out 20 times a game, I doubt it's improved enough to lure older fans like me back.

Realistically

Eberle for 2nd + Robertson
Dowd for 4th + Jones (devalued because most contenders won't want to trade for a currently injured dude)
Scandella for a 6th

I hope Rangers do the smart thing and trade for players that might be here for more than a year or 2. Tomas Novak would be a prefect fit on the 3rd line

Gustafsson is Laviolette going “get this guy he’s good”. Drury could’ve had Gus the last two years and got Nemeth and Harpur
