At the Town Hall the other night I couldn't help but think Gorton looks like the Alien bug from MIB. He even makes the same facial gestures.

I like Beleskey I know he got hurt but I like him for this year and next way more than Mcleod.

Yeah I'd hope when he's healthy they use him as the 13th forward or on the 4th line if necessary over McLeod.

By the way I do like Marc--it's just those two injuries turned him into a shell of what he was. It's too bad but the game has passed him by IMO.

I think that the game has passed him by specifically because of the injuries.

If they buy him out next summer, the dead cap space will be lower than if it was done now, but will it be significantly lower?

So, you be the judge. We'd be paying the $2M this year and have an extra year at $1.4M (actually $1.355M but whatever). Otherwise it's not really a huge difference. The big thing, I think, is that this year and next they have $3.6M in dead space due to Girardi (then $1.1M for three more years), and they want to minimize the overlap. Numbers in bold are where a buyout from this year would lineup with a buyout from next year.

What changed? The Rangers traded for Adam McQuaid, making an already bad defence even worse. It currently ranks as the 30th worst unit in the league ahead of only Detroit. Forward depth still looks highly questionable too.

That is where I am coming out. And that can start this year. If he is being pushed by a younger player, then do the right thing and sit him down. That maybe be better than incurring another 4 years of more dead cap space.

If they sit him enough maybe he waives his clause. Not that I think that helps move him, maybe if they retained half, even then I doubt it but at least they tried to do something rather than just played him right up until the point they bought him out like they did with Girardi.

This would make sense. They can bury just over $1m if he clears waivers. At some point, that will be an option. In saying that, if he plays well on the PK and decent 5v5, I really wonder if a team would take him at half the cap hit for only a couple of seasons

yikes that 2nd unit ??? pionk is cool there. like that but....

i can see lots of missed slam dunk goals. vesey cant hit the water from a pier and hayes isnt exactly a sniper. spooner is the shooter i guess. zucc belongs on unit 1.

Seems like a "this is your opportunity to take over this team and be a leader" kind of deal.

Because honestly Zibanejad is still the Rangers best shot at a legit #1 center now and in the future. If he finally stays healthy, puts it all together, and has a great season then maybe we can move on to worrying about the wings or defense instead of center.

re: the power play, it annoys me that it doesnt's eem like the Rangers ever really focus on trying to setup someone like Zibanejad. I know he doesn't have the shot of Ovechkin or other guys from that spot but he can still blast it, score some goals that way, or create some rebounds. Give it a shot
