It's a tough break for the Devils. We get the feeling with what happened to Svech the other year. We did end up going on a decent run even with that. I doubt they are going to make huge rental moves with this having happened, but it doesn't have to be the end of their season.

Vejmelka re-signs in Utah. Welp.

What if the Islanders commit to a legitimate rebuild and we flip Kochetkov, our 1st, and another piece to them for Sorokin? In a world where the goalie market is a nightmare I chose to dream.

What's a first round pick..... oh you mean trade bait.
I mean there is something to be said for trading every 1st round pick for a proven roster player. Unless you know you are getting a top talent in one of the high picks, why not just guarantee yourself someone who will actively contribute?

There were people who said that trading a 1st for Skjei was a terrible deal for us, and I'd still make that trade 10 times out of 10.

They are the LA Rams of the NHL who also have the motto of f*** them kids. It's entertaining to me because you keep thinking man when the bottom falls out for Tampa, and now Florida and Boston, they are going to be god awful but the end never comes. They're the herpes of the NHL.
Well Boston has certainly hung around a lot longer than most thought but it's going to take a dramatic off-season for them to be considered a contender again

As long as Kucherov/Point/Vasy etc are performing well, the Lightning will always be a contender.

I'm sure eventually in say, 4-5 years they'll have a down year, but at this point they're going to be an attractive UFA destination until the end of time.
