As I've said before, I think this will be the last year where they consciously 'sell', followed by a few years of pushing for the playoffs without going for major rentals and retaining high picks.

There are plenty of ways to make it work
This dude hit like a freight train in NHL10Here's a fun fact for you today:
Mikhail Pashnin - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps
The Rangers drafted this guy in 2009, they still hold his rights![]()
Yeah, they drafted Ilya Gorokhov in 1995 and held onto his rights until the mid/late-00's. It was weird. The old Rangers website used to even list him in the "In the System Section" even though he was like 30. Gorokhov was a good Russian Superleague/KHL player for a long time. Maybe the Rangers think Pashnin might one day want to come over? Here's a fun fact for you today:

Yes, yes, I know how it works. It just seems pointless to me. It may not be harming anything to retain their rights, it just seems unnecessary. There is no reason to give up the rights unless you get close to the max of the reserve list (which I think is 90).
Our dream is over, nobody can resist a good beach.
He went first overall in the KHL draft and there was some excitement around him here as a result of it.Here's a fun fact for you today:

Panarin-Chytil-Kravstov is something I need in my life.
Secure a top 5 pick in 2019 and have another draft full of top90 picks and we’re in business.
They'd still find a way to blow it.Panarin to Tampa lol. As if that team isn't loaded enough.
But I want that 2019 first rounder.
They'd still find a way to blow it.
They don't have the right guys to win imo. Good players but something is missing when the chips are down. It's been a long time since I saw a good team get eliminated with less of a fight than they put up this year.
Not signing Panarin because of the perception that he won't fit on the power play makes no sense. For a player if his caliber, you make room for him. Either put him in the slot or along the half wall on the first unit.
Isn’t Gusev UFA next year ? Gusev, Panarin, Kravtsov , Rykov, Sherts added next year would be nice
Nashville 3 seasons ago.
Us 4 seasons ago. Their game 7 was very, very reminiscent of our game 7 in 2015.
The stench of too many former Rangers from the 2013-15 teams is what the problem is for them. They'd still find a way to blow it.

Agreed, I think we need one more top five caliber prospect to add to what we have.Panarin-Chytil-Kravstov is something I need in my life.

So when Panarin to NYR doesn't happen, @Lone Ranger will be our new insider.
Can't get scoops like this without working hard.
We still have to find a top pair dman , hopefully he is in our farm right now, but we can't be sure at this point. If we add a true 1C (Hughes for instance) I think we have a solid chance to compete in 2021
