I have to give some credit to our coaches. They did not panic when Blake did not score in his first 10 games. Not to mention all the different linemates he’s had over that span.

We saw Girardi sign a reasonable 3-yr deal at this point in his career. You can't just hand-wave the difference between a soon to be 26 yo and a soon to be 30 yo.You are crazy. Everyone loves Lindgren but you simply cannot give him another contract. We saw this with Girardi
another cap thing. Have to dive to get, don’t want to give another contract with wing depth on farm. May as well use the asset. Won’t miss him if he is in Calgary. Try to keep 1st
Lindgren is not even "already 26." Not for another 6 weeks. If we spend cap on one upgrade for next season, I'm listening on Hanifin. But I'm not looking to just dump Lindy because "he's breaking down like a 30+ Girardi." That's a rash decision. It was cool to hate Girardi at the end but he was 6th in Norris voting at age 27. Lindgren is already a liability in the top 4 at 26.
Still 25 and already in decline? I can talk about upgrading on him, but I can't get on board with calling him washed before his 26th birthday.Lindgren has more damage on him than Girardi did. The Rangers can’t make another cap ruining extension on a guy who is already in decline
I think he wants to win the cup with his favorite childhood hockey team.My proposal of trading Quick would be predicated on asking him if he would want a shot to be a starter to fonoah the season. Not just to trade him. I think he would have some value to teams right to the cap looking for help this year

That's true, Nicky, but when you think about it, they really didn't have much choice.I have to give some credit to our coaches. They did not panic when Blake did not score in his first 10 games.
Let's see: he's winning, he's on a cup contender (according to many) and, most important, he's apparently enjoying hockey to the fullest again!!! Why would he agree to go to a team where goaltenders go to die?And that’s fair, but I’d leave it up to him
Predictable because he’s a notoriously slower starterNot to mention all the different linemates he’s had over that span.
Maybe but weren't some fans (maybe media) saying Blake should sit at that time? Remember Vesey started the season in dress clothes. That's true, Nicky, but when you think about it, they really didn't have much choice.
Like he's not a terrible top 4 option, but put him on the bottom pair and he's a solid defenseman. We saw Girardi sign a reasonable 3-yr deal at this point in his career. You can't just hand-wave the difference between a soon to be 26 yo and a soon to be 30 yo.
Not looking to trade KK for a whole host of reasons. We already miss him right now.

True that. I disremembered the fact that Wheeler started on the third line.....Maybe but weren't some fans (maybe media) saying Blake should sit at that time? Remember Vesey started the season in dress clothes.
Crazy Larry mentioned a team (Toronto?) giving up a first for Quick. That isn't happening. If it was offered Drury would grab it quickly. My proposal of trading Quick would be predicated on asking him if he would want a shot to be a starter to fonoah the season. Not just to trade him. That's only if Toronto isn't one of the teams on his no-trade list.Crazy Larry mentioned a team (Toronto?) giving up a first for Quick. That isn't happening. If it was offered Drury would grab it quickly.
Quick is never getting traded. Not only that, it would be an awful look for the organization by trading a future Hall of Famer who signed here because NYR were his childhood team. It would be a red flag for future players wanting to sign here. Not only that, Quick has been a huge safety net for Igor this season when he got hurt and when he slumped. Who’s backing up Igor if you trade Quick? An unknown Garand? Domingue? What happens if Igor gets hurt or slumps again? Bad recipe. I know some people on here have the Charles Wang mindset with goaltending and you can just throw a random sumo wrestler in net and win a Cup but that’s the wrong approach.
Even if Quick would say yes do you think Toronto would give a first? That seems like pie in the sky by Larry imo. That's only if Toronto isn't one of the teams on his no-trade list.
I mean if someone offered a first for quick, I would say move him because that insane overpay doesn't come around often.Quick is never getting traded.
The Rangers won’t do it. It’s an awful look.
Look at the football Jets as to why you don’t let a season with playoff aspirations slip by, because you didn’t invest in an adequate backup.
Why? To add a mid round pick or 4th liner with promise?
It doesn’t make sense from any angle, but EA.
Toronto giving up a first for a goalie makes sense. Giving up a first for Quck does not.Even if Quick would say yes do you think Toronto would give a first? That seems like pie in the sky by Larry imo.
Or you could just not tell a guy that you’re floating his name in trade negotiations when he’s happy here, and performing very well at a very low salary because you want to get a 4th line upgrade which could potentially be achieved in a much easier way. You’re also trading in your insurance policy. Let’s see how excited everyone is when Domingue is starting a playoff game. We won’t even get into team chemistry where I’d imagine word that their extremely respected Stanley Cup winning teammate is being dealt off for a rather insignificant piece after he came back to his hometown team and over performed expectations. My proposal of trading Quick would be predicated on asking him if he would want a shot to be a starter to fonoah the season. Not just to trade him. I think he would have some value to teams right to the cap looking for help this year
Cuylle is better at scoring goals, hitting and worse at everything else. Kakko is the overall better player at this point and it's not particularly close.People miss the idea of Kakko. They have plenty of guys who can put up 3 points in 20 games, and do.
Cuylle is already better than he is. Kakko still has a place on the team but he's always going to be the 3rd guy on his line. His arb number is gonna be so low I wouldn't trade him but he's JAG.
People just look at the box score. You'd think this board would have some more reasonable takes, especially since wheeler went from absolutely terrible to borderline useful at times.Cuylle is better at scoring goals, hitting and worse at everything else. Kakko is the overall better player at this point and it's not particularly close.
He wrote it for the clicksEven if Quick would say yes do you think Toronto would give a first? That seems like pie in the sky by Larry imo.
Not to mention probably unnecessary. Panarin and Trouba wanted to come here. Goodrow got a massive overpay. Would they have not signed if not for those clauses? One thing this org needs to get better at is deciding when to give out the NMC/NTC contracts.
They have been a disaster at this this far.
