Eddie Olzyck was asked tonight what he thought of the Rangers."I'd keep an eye on Will Cuylle. He scored again tonight he just has a real nose for the net in an old school way. I'm seeing a Jarome Iginla type player."After a pause: "Maybe better"High praise
😳
Kinda an outrageous comment. "Maybe better".. maybe you could make a playstyle comparison, but other than that... Iginla is a hall of famer with a few +90 point NHL seasons and demolished juniors, Cuylle could still have some upside from here but I don't see that being anywhere near realistic

Agreed. I think a cleaner Tom Wilson is the better comp overall though.

For all we know, Chytil might be ready in 4 weeks but Drury and company want him to take the additional time off for his own sake, and to LTIR the f*** out of this broken system that other teams have taken advantage of. It's a win-win imo.

Honestly, even if Chytil is ready to go in a month, I'd still rather see the kid take some extended time off. It won't hurt, that's for sure.

The less we talk about Chytil probably the better. I cannot imagine that they would have let him fly to Europe if he was still having PCS. Out of sight out of mind.

Think you have to make a trade for a better forward in the mean time that can take Bonino off the Cuylle line, and can do a bit if utility role if/when Chytil can go. Having Chytil back at this point is a bonus and should be treated accordingly. What they cannot do is persist with Line 3 Bonino. Thats going to bite them.

I am not as negative on Brod as you are.
Consider him solid 4th liner who can emergency squeeze/pinch coupla games higher up.
Your assessment was once correct but I feel he's grown and honesty compels we acknowledge same.
I'd like him more on the 4th line. But agree he's not bad. But I don't think we can go into the playoffs with him on our 3rd line.

Brodz issue is that he's steeped in the AHL. Everyone sucks so you play at 200 mph at all times and take every shot you can get. I think he has the talent to be an effective NHL player but his habits get in the way and I don't think its reversible at this point.

I totally agree....I think they should just shut him down for the season and call it a day. Bringing him back just for the playoffs ain't a good idea either....if he's easily concussed during the regular season, one good hit in the playoffs could end his career (which is already in jeopardy).

Yeah it’s insane, Iginla won a Richard and is a hall of famer.

I will say this, Cuylle would be pacing 20+ goals if the league knew what the f*** it was doing playing 3rd line minutes with Bonino. He may still score 20+

His goal scoring totals is really going to be tied to who ever he plays with. Find someone who can find him and he’ll put up 30+. He’s good at scoring goals.

I mean, he's been the topic of conversation so I'm not sure what difference it makes. Just discussing options really, and yeah, adding someone to bump Bonino out of the 3rd line is a total W.

Speaking generally. Just wouldn’t drive self crazy after for daily Chytil updates. Does in the positive that he is healthy enough for air travel and get on with it

this is supposed to be a season where for better or worse we are meant to be competing for a Stanley cup. If he’s healthy by the playoffs we’d be foolish not to use him

WE, the fans, don't have a clue what is going to happen. I'm sure the Rangers have a plan which is dependent upon his health. Just because they haven't done anything to this point isn't really that surprising. The cap also plays into what they can and cannot do. Right now they have the luxury of time because of their position in the standings.
This is a forum to speculate

I’m speculating he could miss the season….. lol

He is what he is. He finally scored so I stopped criticizing but lately I see more and more fans acknowledging that he’s not an NHL player. You say you think he has the talent. He’s 30 not 23. He’s much closer to the end of his career. He doesn’t have the talent.

On to the next shiny toy.
