I think you need to stop taking out Bonino. You obviously don't like him but the organization has shown absolutely zero interest in demoting him in anyway. Whether or not he should be is rather besides the point.

To recap:

1. Chytil got injured and Bonino has been the one to move to the 3C spot for every single game
2. He leads all forwards on the team in PK ice time per game.
3. He leads all forwards on the team in TOI/Game with the empty net

Does that look like a player the team has any interest in taking out of the lineup? Making moves that remove him is a fantasy. It's inevitable that he will be in the lineup so if you're looking to make a playoff roster you should certainly be listing him.

Pitlick and Brodzinski will be out of the lineup when/if Kakko/Chytil comes back. Neither has any significant special team or late game role. Brodinzski is "PP2" but he likely wouldn't be with the other two back. I doubt they make any move for a forward without sending someone back off the roster so whoever that is will be out. In fact, I think Laviolette would likely remove Goodrow before Bonino just based on how they have been used but it is close.

I tend to doubt they make much moves, if any. They don't have the space to do it and most of the guys that you would get for a mid round pic will make no tangible difference.
Think this is correct. I'd expect them to add a minimum salary spare type but that's all.

Dude…nothing anyone talks about on here serves any purpose. How does pulling random trade proposals out of your ass crack serve more of a purpose than suggesting the team bench their biggest liability which could at least conceivably happen
Wonder why there isn't a trade proposal thread for these things?

I’m not the biggest Bonino fan but you don’t know puck if you think the guy leading a top 5 PK in ice-time and leading the entire league in blocked shots is the Rangers biggest liability. Look beyond the charts.

Then just get him out of the top 9. Can we maybe do that? Your 4th line is supposed to suck most of the time and have guys on it that play situationally. I can live with that but we desperately need another line that can do anything in the other two zones.

Can one of the mods police all this line numbering stuff? Thanks.

This is a roster building thread. No restrictions - any idea is welcomed and valid.
Every suggestion should be welcomed initially, no restriction [except illegal content] = freedom of speech

All posters should be prepared to substantiate their content = competition of ideas.
Hopefully everyone is at least honest in any criticism, argument/counter-argument.

imo, that is ideal of how the board should be run

Although it is uneven, seems we get there most of the time

This is always my favorite argument that comes up. When someone implies that looking at analytics is the only way you come to the conclusion that Bonino is cheeks

Yeah when Chytil comes back. Until then patience is a virgin. It’s not like Bonino’s defensive presence is effecting the overall record.

I mean that’s what you just did. Bonino is a good defensive and Pk specialist on the 4th line. Not sure why you’re expecting him to he carrying the play with his underlying numbers. That was never the expectation.

Brodzinski and Pitlick would be the guys to go out once Kakko or Chytil are back or there's an upgrade somewhere. That seems obvious to me, even with the little kicks Brodzinski throws in. Perfect 13th/call-up guy, and he knows the role.

I do think Edstrom looked good, and I do love what Cuylle brings, but I do imagine Cuylle will look a bit off in the second half of the season as the grind gets to him. Having a 4th line of experienced vets and not a random assortment of kids is a big difference this year, and Bonino has been great on the PK.

It's all about getting Kakko and Chytil back(or some kind of trade), and getting Bonino back to 4C with Vesey and Goodrow. Losing Kakko and Chytil has hurt depth a bit.

As for defense, there needs to be more reliability. As good as the Rangers D looked to start the season, teams have caught on and can expose the LD cheating up. It can work in the regular season, but that would get destroyed in the playoffs.

I think we can all agree that Bonino was not brought in here to be playing half the season as our 3rd center. If Fil is not back by March, I'm positive that Drury will make trading for a more offensive center a trade deadline priority.

He has an axe to grind particularly against Bonino as well as Goodrow. It's very weird.
