This board obsesses on 5v5. Maybe because it's an easy target. They can win with the first two lines, once KK and Fil get back. It's been proven that plenty of penalties get called in the playoffs. So yes the Rangers reality can work. Mike and CK get their goals and points. I don't really care how and when. The league toughened up on crosschecking in the crease a couple years ago and Kreider became an immoveable beast. Great for us.

Get Igor in sync, keep playing top of the league PP and PK, be defensively responsible and they score plenty and could win.

We're in a very comfortable position. Head injuries are cumulative. There's no reason to risk Chytil in what are glorified preseason games. I doubt we see him for awhile.

Use him as a "rental" starting in March if he's good to go and explore trades in the summer.

I like the optimism. I agree, at least while we have injuries, that 5v5 is a bit overblown as long as the team is making up for it elsewhere.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the Pens one of the better 5v5 teams with a garbage PP? Not sure about their PK but so far I'll take our results over theirs.

Seattle was great 5v5 last year and made a decent push into the playoffs but their goalie also decided to wake up at the right time if I remember correctly.

If the Rangers want to ride a great PP/PK and average at best 5v5 into the playoffs, I would argue it's doable IF they understand that they need to put themselves into the right positions to draw penalties. Be aggressive with driving to the goal, otherwise, whomever they face is going to just play as clean as possible to stay out of the box.

As long as Igor plays at a high level, I think this team can go places as long as everyone else doesn't completely fall apart like last year. A cup winning team should be able to adapt and win in a variety of ways because every team poses a different challenge and injuries are inevitable.

It's coming to the point that a hair dryer, accidentally left on high, could put Fil on LTIR.

Drury will make moves with this team with Chytil as a ( yay! Bonus! ) addition at this point . Well, at least I hope he will.
Yep. He’s gravy at this point. And it’s a shame. Clearly Chytil is a good guy and a hard worker and really loyal to the team. The last guy who should be going through this kind of thing.

There should always be a spot for him but it’ll have to be on his timeline.

No. If I am talking to YOU I'm interested in YOUR opinion. If you were to go to another board to look for agreeing opinions, that's called confirmation bias, from people who are inherently biased against this team for the most part, and I don't care. And you can put this shoe on the foot of anyone on different team boards. They would be contending with the fans of 31 teams that are predisposed against their team as well. I don't think anyone is out to get ME, I literally said I don't care what they think. You jumping to that conclusion is silly. Why would they even care about me?
Yes, everyone on these boards has at least a bit of bias, so what? How does this do anything but support what I said? Hahaha.
Again, I'll talk to you all day long, agree or not, but if you want to do an "Appeal to Authority," which is the name of that particular logical fallacy even when the "authority" is not biased, don't expect me to give it any weight.

I guess this could be boiled down to "I don't give a f*** about what they say about this team on the main boards because I have no logical reason to." hahahaha
Actually what you are doing is literally the definition of confirmation bias. Thats a person ignoring information that is inconsistent with their beliefs. These beliefs can include a person’s expectations in a given situation and their predictions about a particular outcome. You are literally predicting a large group of people on the main boards are already going against what you deem to be correct based on your pre-established beliefs. Asking others their opinions is not confirmation bias because they could go against your opinion. Now if you ignore overwhelming information and stick to your own beliefs that is confirmation bias. For instance if 98% of people disagree with you, you are probably wrong. Ignoring them by saying they are biased is confirmation bias.

Reportedly turned down 9 million x 8 years. Plus will cost first rounder and a good prospect. Sure maybe he just wants out of Calgary or maybe thinks he is gonna get 9 million plus. Pass.
He isn't getting 9 mill and everyone knows it. Either he is horribly unhappy or he has the same agent that klingberg had lol.

As of now he is on pace for 50 points. He could be an amazing buy low candidate as his stock is dropping daily.

If the Rangers send out Chytil they probably avoid sending a 1st round pick depending on how much they value Chytil that prospect could be fairly mediocre.

Chytil won't be force-fed into 2C coming back from prolonged injury. He'll start back as 3C, bumping Bonino back down. Maybe he establishes chemistry with Cuylle and Brodzinski or reestablishes with Kakko once he's back, but as soon as Chytil's legs are back under him I expect he'll get some shifts with Pan and Laf again. Play will dictate the lines.
I doubt he sees the ice with panarin and laf again this season

Trocheck is on pace for like 80 points. You’d be out of your damn mind to put chytil back there

The third line should be cuylle-chytil-kakko

What's Laf on pace for, since Chytil's been out?

Your retort is irrelevant

Laf has consistently been one of our best players this season

That line as a whole has been one of the best in the nhl
The point is that the line was generating more offense as a whole with chytil, than with trocheck.
It’s a very valid point.
Trocheck is playing well, he also plays a much more physical game which can work better with cuylle too.
But at the moment trocheck has pipp’d chytil.

They were generating an insane amount of offense.
It was small-ish sample size, but much more than this line is.
This line prevents more, as trocheck is significantly more capable defensively, but chytil is far better in transition

People criticize a bunch of things about Drury, but I think he is one of the best GMs in the NHL. Dude just straight knows puck. He got good dudes on good league minimum contracts (league min contracts for the 4th line is what was begged for damn years here) in Vesey and Pitlick. The Hartford team is in the best shape it has literally ever been. And even his contract have been pretty damn good. All of Fox, Trocheck, and Kreider are looking like very good value deals for literally top end contender level players.

And for as much as so many of us shit on the Lav hire, he has been the absolute right hire thus far.
Drury’s summer of 2023 reminds me of how the Penguins rolled 2015-2018. Pay your stars and surround them with a cast of minimum wage hard working veterans. Worked for the Penguins and can probably work here for 1-2 more years.

Just looked at the Athletics's new trade board and all I can say is it might be a good year to have no cap space. The only difference maker is Guentzel, but theres a 0.00% PIT would ever trade him here in-season. Perfect fit though. He'd be an elite version of Vatrano for the Mika/Kreider line.

Respectfully, the Penguins had Crosby and Malkin. We don’t

You don’t know what confirmation bias means. It’s when you go out looking for views to support your own instead of looking at a preponderance of evidence and draw a conclusion. And no I’m not doing that. Hahaha
You are both committing an appeal to authority AND confirmation bias. You literally tried to use the view of the main boards as some sort of proof. It’s not.
As I said I’m open to hear the beliefs and opinions of whomever I’m talking to. That’s the opposite of exclusionary. If you can’t see the difference I can’t help you. And you also don’t seem to see the inherent bias in opposing sports fans. in one breath while saying we all have it in another.
And if the 98% of people who disagree with me don’t watch my team anywhere near as much as me, and ARE predisposed to a DIFFERENT team then NO, I am probably not wrong. Just like my take on a team, I don’t watch is less likely to be correct than the guy who really follows it, even if there’s 98 % who agree with me who don’t follow the team in question either. Perception doesn’t change reality. Hahaha.
