He may ask out.
But he caused this disaster too.
Captain goes down w the ship when they steer into the iceberg

Not sure I agree.

Sid has been under paid the last 10 years. And has been a top 3-5 center in the league during the same time.

Not commenting on a potential deal, but the idea that any blame lies at his feet I think is wrong

He took less on purpose.
His choice.
He then forced the penguins to re-sign Malkin, re-sign letang. For way over market value, so that any value he adds as a top 10c this year is lost on Malkin and letang.
The penguins could’ve bottomed out for a year or two and reloaded with him and some young talent, but he refused to even consider that.

#1 it's not happening. #2 who would wanna see that prick in our uniform. I could not root for that guy. Winning the Cup with him would be nothing like winning the Cup with Messier. It would be like rooting for Tom Brady to win a SB with the Giants.

And even if I didn't personally despise the dude, think of all the negative shit we'd have to listen to if that actually happened. "Rangers couldn't win the Cup with their own players, had to go get Crosby to do it etc". 30 years later & people still call the '94 team the New York Oilers or some version of that.
Lots of cups won with help from players that started elsewhere. Was Eichel always on Vegas?

Malkin was over market value? Letang you have an argument for.

Blaming Sid Crosby for anything here seems wild. I don’t like him by any means, but this is a stretch.

Is that a reason not to have Crosby help us win a cup if possible?
Not a compelling reason, just one that explains the resistance here to an idea like that and why Eichel isn't a good comparison.

Some of the real reasons why we won't bring Crosby in to win a Cup are:

-he's not available
-he's not winning right now in Pittsburgh despite a deep and talented support roster
-we don't have the cap space, even at 50% retained, which again isn't realistic
-a power shift like that would almost certainly blow up our locker room and the team's relationship with Lav

It isn't happening. We might as well debate adding Santa Claus to the roster.

Is Santa available @50%?

People were talking about Duclair from the Sharks, but I think Barabanov fits better
Plays a stronger game, can do board work, has played both wings, lower cap hit so more flexibility for other moves

On the flip side-he comes up for a few games and struggles and his confidence takes a big hit...and he gets sent back down..it might not ruin his development, but it certainly can do some harm. He's right where he needs to be right now,no reason at all to call him up and give him added pressure to produce
if his confidence takes a big hit after struggling in his first few NHL games then we have much bigger issues
