I know things appear better and his underlying numbers look good but at some point, and it's not right now, we will have to all come to the realization that the points aren't coming. In that scenario, there may be a team, or teams, that still see him as an eventual 60-70 point 2-way winger. If those teams exist then it may behoove the organization to move on.
Again, that time isn't now, but it may be at the deadline. Or it may be this off-season.
I was going to say this. Jones plays Hughes and the other small forwards really well. His lateral mobility and strength for his size is actually pretty decent. It's the big guys he has trouble with which makes sense.
I'm not in a rush to trade Jones. He's a RFA at years end and makes peanuts against the cap. Most smaller d-men take a bit of time to develop so even if he isn't a regular next year it's worthwhile to try and develop him.
