impressive stat of the night.

severson was on the ice for over 11 mins at even strength.. guess how many shots on goal dallas had in those eleven minutes?

zero
He’s the 3rd best defenseman on the team, and a good player. Most of the stuff posted about him around here is nonsense, IMO.

Jones-Severson-Gudbranson, on the right side?

Sign me up.

I think we have a good chance. Dallas' defence is not better than our. If Elvis will play good and won't be stupid mistakes I think we will win.

I said we win if Elvis won't make stupid mistakes.I can't say how Elvis play, only today I will watch the game. But we won. 😏

Was going to post my observations of my first in person game in 6 years. Severson was going to be one of the main ones. I thought he was absolutely fantastic all around. The thing that specifically stood out to me is that he’s amazing at getting very “tippable” shots through. He shoots very accurately and that can create chances out of nothing, which obviously resulted in a goal last night.

On the other hand, I thought Provorov was really notably awful defensively, which seems to fit that chart above.

Other observations:

-Marchenko is even more amazing in person. I wouldn’t be shocked if he eventually hit 100 points one or two times. Flat out superstar.
-Johnson’s vision is crazy, while still making some young guy mistakes by not taking the simple play. I think his ~70 point pace this year is probably pretty indicative of the player he’ll be moving forward.
-You can definitely see the potential with Fantilli. He’s going to be a good one, remains to be seen how good.
-Sillinger is really good at seeming to be having an impact when he actually doesn’t do much of note other than skate around relatively fast and forecheck. Then when an actual opportunity comes for him to make a play, he misses. Was not sure what to make of him.
-Voronkov’s hands are pretty amazing in tight spaces for a guy his size.
-Olivier was much more impactful in person than he seems to be on TV. Was really impressed by him.
-Not Z’s best game, but you can definitely see that he’s an elite player given his puck possession time and total distance skated. Real upset that the one game I get to go to is when his streak ends.
-Christiansen is an incredibly passive player. He seems to not have much confidence.

Only player that stood out to me on Dallas was Thomas Harley. I don’t know when exactly he became a great player, but damn he was good.

You offered a lot of observations on Jackets players and I agreed with every one of them.
