There's someone on the trade boards trying to push for a Zucc return to the Rangers. Take a wild guess who that is hahaha

They probably would get that opportunity if we were in a position where the game wasn't tied, we were losing by a goal, or barely winning.I wouldn't hate if PP2 got to start a power play once a game when the PP1 guys had just had a long shift. I think it happened like twice last year in the games I saw.
I think 4 of those came with pp#1 players. But I agree, I haven't seen Laf do anything on the powerplay that gives me the impression he'd be a good option, yet.We can talk about usage but his teammates are getting the exact same usage. The next Ranger on the list who was with the Rangers all three years is Chris Kreider and he ranks 38th.
If you want to include anybody who played on the team, it's Ryan Strome at 136th. If you want to include a guy that only really played on PP2, it's Pavel Buchnevich who managed to get to 76th despite playing on our second unit.
In 20-21, on our second unit, Buchnevich had 8 points. Running joke Colin Blackwell had 5. Lafreniere had zero in more minutes than Blackwell.
On his own team, Lafreniere sits in his own dimension. Nobody else on our second unit (Kakko, Trouba, Chytil) played enough minutes to quality for the list, which goes to show that Lafreniere is playing on the powerplay more than you think he is. He just historically sucks at it.

I'm not pushing anything. I just brought it up because it was reported by The Hockey News that he's a possible trade target for the Rangers.
I normally wouldn't react to it, but it makes sense in many ways, looks like you could use a RW who puts up 60+ points a season. Teams have cap issues, but Zucc at age 36 will come cheaper. $2M of his salary this season is signing bonus, should make a trade easier?
If Drury brings him back I guess it should help your marketing department, as Zucc still seems to be loved by most NYR fans.

So we can rearrange everything for an old former star from another team. Oh joyKane is coming back. Mentally prepare yourself.
Time heals wounds. There's very little left of the 2019 Rangers, except his buddies Kreider and Zibanejad. And Drury wasn't the GM who called him at 10pm and told him to pack his bags and take a 4am flight to Chicago and join the Stars there.Zucc would not want to come back to the Rangers after how they treated him. Trading all his friends away. Then trading him when he wanted to sign an extension and not leave.
Yeah, heard that a trade was easier with a signing bonus involved. Don't understand why. After his signing bonus (which was probably July 1st), Zuccarello's 2023-24 actual salary will be 3M. However, that only matters to internal budget teams, he still counts 6M towards any teams' cap unless Minnesota retains.

They didn't however. I remember a game where we were up 4-0, 5-0 in the 3rd and Gallant kept trotting out PP1. There was multiple times throughout the year to do it and he didn't.They probably would get that opportunity if we were in a position where the game wasn't tied, we were losing by a goal, or barely winning.
The PP1 guys are on two different lines and probably are finishing a shift like 75% of the time a penalty is drawn.I wouldn't hate if PP2 got to start a power play once a game when the PP1 guys had just had a long shift. I think it happened like twice last year in the games I saw.
He scored at a 0.78 PPG pace on one hip. With the repaired hip? Say he has limited PP time. I still have him at 0.60 PPG output. He has always been clutch. I would take him at that on the 3rd line.So we can rearrange everything for an old former star from another team. Oh joy
We cannot afford his fit. That’s the issue.Zuccarello is a RW who's elite at passing and puts up a ton of points at even strength.
It would be a great fit even if his fanbase is annoying.
Sure, and I don't know if I'm moving mountains to fit Zuccarello in, that's a fair a point. We cannot afford his fit. That’s the issue.
A one dimensional power play specialist playing in the third line. What could go wrong? He scored at a 0.78 PPG pace on one hip. With the repaired hip? Say he has limited PP time. I still have him at 0.60 PPG output. He has always been clutch. I would take him at that on the 3rd line.

PP specialist? This guy has scored a ton at ES in his career…. Sure his numbers would be adjusted if he was getting PP2 minutes, which we know would be a limited amount, but he would clearly still be a talented threat at ES. You can never have enough of talented depth.A one dimensional power play specialist playing in the third line. What could go wrong?
Good point. The way some people get worked up, you’d think they had real skin in the game.I'm sure y'all have other interests and hobbies. Ever think to yourself that this is the only one where you can't control the outcome?
