You are reinforcing the point:
if McDavid had become Trocheck he would be a massive disappointment but still A VERY GOOD NHLER.
We all agree expectations exist. We all agree Laf has not met them: he has been a disappointment for his draft pedigree. And yet, LAF IS STILL A GOOD NHLER ALREADY. I’m not sure how people don’t understand expectations of better play do not negate how well he HAS performed. A player does not have to live up to draft expectations to be a valuable NHLer. They are two DIFFERENT things. IF Cuylle and Laf played equally well, they’d be equal players regardless of where they were drafted. This is just simple acceptance of REALITY. If we were building a team and could add a former first round pick, or a guy same age drafted in the fourth round who offers a bit less, are you telling me we should pick the fourth rounder who isn’t quite as good simply because he was a better draft value? That’s f***ing insane. Haha.
See a reference to Cuylle is not needed - it only muddies the point.

If you have a player who’s in his D+2 year scores 19 goals and in his D+3 year gets 39 points, both almost exclusively at ES is by definition a good player. These are the only points needed.

So when do we think the training wheels should come off for FC? I mean is it 7 or 8 years. Geez the guy has been in the league for 5+ years and he is still learning.? For a first round pick he should already understand the game. Time to put up or shut up with this guy.

Filip Chytil was drafted 21st overall in 2017.

This past season he ranked 13th in points in his draft class.

ES points: 9th
ES goals: 4th
5v5 P/60: 7th
5v5 G/60: 7th
5v5 A1/60: 10th

What are you expecting here?

Nope. Stupid.

His statement was basically along the lines of why are we complaining about Lafreniere. If Cuylle was doing this, then we’d be ecstatic. HF being HF.

By this logic, let’s say Zibanejad played 82 games next year and put up 35 points. Then I responded to criticism by saying, “Hey guys, would we be saying this if Nick Bonino put up 35 points?! He’s still a good NHL’er,” then it’d be equally ridiculous.

The fact that it is now mid August and the first overall pick is still not signed to his pathetic 2.5 million dollar bridge deal tells me a lot. Can someone go to all the “all you can eat buffets” and search for Laf. If you don’t find him there start walking around as many Tim Horton’s and see if he’s there. Once place you can ignore is the local rinks as we certainly know he’s not there.

Like seriously what in the world is the hold up at this point? Laf needed to know this was an important off season and it looks like the Rangers are, once again, throwing this situation into a chaotic mess that’s not gonna benefit him at all. As blah as he’s been, there really is no reason not to give the guy 2 years 2.5 mil and if he thinks he’s worth more than we can add delusional to the short list of things he excels at.

Holy overreaction…

It's really not a big deal. It's August 12th.

Trevor Zegras, Jamie Drysdale, Shane Pinto, Evan Vouchard and Calen Adison (to name a few) are still unsigned.

Also...

You're reading things into the situation that aren't there. There's nothing unusual about a non-arbitration RFA still being unsigned on August 12th. The deadline to get a deal done is the first day of training camp, and that's a soft deadline.

If I'm his agent, I'm waiting as long as I can to see what Shane Pinto and Morgan Frost get so I can use that as leverage to get more for my client. The Rangers have some flexibility and his agent knows that. We have $2,278,417 in cap space with a 22 man roster. If we send down Belzile and Mackey, that number jumps up to $3,828,417. So even if we give Laf 3 mil per year, that's still 800k in cap space with a 21 man roster.

If you were Laf's agent, wouldn't you be trying everything you could to get him more money?

Objectively, Laf is a useful hockey player.

He’s still been a major disappointment.

I guess all other 2017 draftees still have their training wheels on too. Which is actually probably not too far off haha.

Good to see that Laf is all about the money instead of signing a cheap deal and proving his worth
Definitely. And he’s probably slacking on his much needed offseason training as it is pretty common to prospects who don’t sign right away. With this attitude we might be lucky if he gets to 30ish points next season.

7x4 for Lindgren would be a smart move. Keep the cap hit lower. At that number even if we find 2 better LHD and Lindgren finds himself as the bottom pairing #5 guy it still is pretty good. It would be smart, so I know the Rangers wont do it.
Under $4m aav but absolutely no freaking NMC/NTC in ink. I'd be ok with a very limited NTC the first 3 years but a full NTC handicaps this team further.

Lindblom will take 9m from Flames to stay. Who gets more points moving forward? Filip or Lindblom? I remember Filip for Lindblom trades couple years ago.
