Booooooooooooo

One of things to always keep in mind with Gorton, and this front office in general, is that they are perfectly fine circling back with people at a later date.

This includes teams they've dealt with (Boston, Carolina, Tampa), as well as teams they've almost traded with multiple times (Ottawa, Calgary, Dallas, Edmonton).

While we’re on the topic of patience, im assuming this isnt getting done tn and we can all go to sleep?

Howden is 83rd with 81 faceoffs taken but leads the team in faceoff percentage with %49.5. That shows how bad the Rangers are at faceoffs, not that he is 1st but the percentage is still low compared to the rest of the NHL.

Mika is 8th with 203 faceoffs taken and only won 44.3. That is telling.

Strome is 45th with 131 taken and won 40.5

NHL Stats

How can centers be so bad at faceoffs? If you are a natural center wouldn’t you want to be really good at faceoffs.

Bennett really isn’t a C.

plus Chytil will be close to if not back by the time anyone we trade for has completed their mandatory quarantine.
According to flames fans Bennett plays his best hockey at center. He is also over 50% on face offs if I’m not mistaken. A main reason he wants a trade is they keep switching him from center to wing and vice versa. He would be an ideal 3c for ny. Then drop Howden to 4C or on the wing with Rooney.

Safe to say something happens before their next game no?

I think it’s safe to say the Rangers are trying to work this situation out sooner rather than later. However, if Calgary decides they don’t want to go down the road of ADA then who knows who else is interested. Tony might find himself on the Kraken next year!

Supposedly the Flames just had a “player mentality” meeting. It’s kind of odd to do that one day to address potential locker room issues then introduce Tony soon after.

Im still wondering if Chytil might be a better fit on the wing. Bennett def adds versatility to the lineup.

He's stuck behind, Monhahn, Lindholm and Backlund most of the time. I've heard he has some defensive discrepancies. He's still young enough to develop. Good on faceoffs. Has an edge. Hits. Has good hands. Can grind it out... he has the tool box. I think he's a lot better than people are making it sound like.

It's also interesting, a lot of our players start a major upswing at 24-25. Buch, Mika, Strome, ADA etc.. I'm all about it.

no doubt it’s worth a shot

gotta think if it gets done it’s Bennett and Ryan for cap compliance for Tony then what is the plus ? Calgary may need a F back and I don’t want to gone up on Gauthier . PDG, Rooney are doing well

if it doesn’t happen by this weekend I doubt it happens

Boy did they miss the boat on Buchnevich. Must have some regret on not pulling the trigger there...unless lindholm was somehow part of the prior discussions, in which case I’d say we’re even.
And I'm delighted they missed the boat. I was against moving Buch the whole time. He emerged last season. If a line needed a kickstart, he was the catalyst. I was scared we were getting off his wagon too soon.

He may still be traded, but we aren't botching the value now (hopefully).
