Andersson or Kylington -- I believe CGY was trying to move a D for Hayes during that last stint of deadline deals

Various names over the last 12-24 months include Hayes, Andersson, Buchnevich, ADA, Hanifin, Lindholm, Monahan, Bennett and others.

The closest they came was Buch/ADA for Hanifin and a center.

Bennett is a name who has popped in and out of conversations going back to Andersson.

If a deal gets across the goal line, it will share a family tree with talks going back to last year and the draft day deal between both teams.
Does the name rhyme with Billiam Buylle

Not as of my lastest update.

Nothing that big.
If it’s simply ada for a couple forwards, where does someone like Bennett play in our lineup? I see components of fast in his game, which almost makes me want to see him with 10/16. But that pushes kakko down, who’s done everything asked of him and looks absolutely fantastic right now, and would have our third be laf/Howden / kk potentially.

I think he's just saying that it's a deal that has players that these two teams have been talking about in various ways since then, not that it's necessarily going to include someone drafted then
Sharing a family tree specifically with the talks going back to last year that involve players are draft picks includes Lias Andersson, who was traded for a late 2nd used to select that player

Rasmus Andersson?

I think he would center the 3rd line to start, depending on when he is eligible to play, and when Chytil comes back. Once Chytil is back, maybe he shifts to wing, or Chytil does.

My guess would be that you give him a shot at 3C while Chytil is out. If he can stick in the middle, maybe Chytil can move up to 2C to replace Strome in the off-season and you slide Bennett in as 3C and Howden as 4C.

In the meantime, players are bound to get hurt, miss time due to Covid, etc. so it never hurts to have a guy who can play W and C and bounce up and down the lineup to fill in the gaps.

The draft day deal he's talking about was the pick swap so the Rangers can draft Schneider, which was born out of the Rangers talking to the Flames about other players before that. This whole thing kind of fits with Gorton's MO of making a small trade with a team and then going back and making another one later (most recently the 2 trades with Carolina)

Then that moves Howden back down to the fourth which is fine. I just see a better more skilled fast. And that would be an insane addition to 10/16

Bennett really isn’t a C.

plus Chytil will be close to if not back by the time anyone we trade for has completed their mandatory quarantine.

He’s out 4-6 weeks. Bennett needs to quarantine for a week. So Bennett et all has 3 weeks or so to find a spot to fit, and that’s if fil is on the minimum side of recovery.

It’s better for everyone to understand that Bennett, at this point, has not been able to supplant himself as a center at this level. It’s possible that changes, but if the expectation is that he is a center we are setting him up for disappointment a bit

isn’t it 2 weeks for the quarantine?

Fil will hit 2 weeks this Sunday I think. I’m going to go with the lower end of the timeline since we always seem to get players back sooner rather than later (for better or for worse)

If we complete the trade today/tomorrow, Bennett could join the lineup next week.

Part of the reason he wants out of Calgary is that he wants a shot at C. With Lindholm moving to C this year, he’s stuck behind Lindholm, Monahan and Backlund - there’s no room for him in the lineup.

He told you that? lol

It’s 2 weeks for Canada but not so for the US. May be different state by state, but that’s why PLD is still quarantining while Laine is playing.

That’s only going into Canada. To the us is only a week.

I think it would be 10 days. Laine coming to the jackets was about 10 days and two weeks for PLD
