Also -and this is just from my experience- what I do is, I state facts. I actively try to not have opinions in front of the room.The environment that lends toward communal thinking and almost a sort of peer pressure does a lot more for it imo
Seldom do any professors do any of that stuff in my experience. But, I definitely have seen a rare professor or so be more than willing to impart their worldview, and when outspoken classmates align themselves with that it can make for some awfully interesting classes when things get sidetracked. I saw it more in grad school than undergrad.
There are some facts that people just don't like and they think these facts are opinions. I'm not going into details because that gets me into trouble. You can ask me or you can use your imagination.
