I saw Dahlin's name unrealistically floated on the main board, curious how you guys would feel about a Kakko/Dahlin deal? It is unrealistic but how would people feel about it?
ADA to Philly was always my gut feeling
I'd take Frost (even though he's hurt now ) They have their top9C set with Patrick back. I would think Philly would be 'going for it'
ADA for Frost is a good starting point imo

How would they be able to score goals if they will be stuck in their own zone defending all the time against other teams' top lines?
Burke said the same thing last night during the Vancouver game. He listed Botterill & Fitzgerald too, guys the Pens are familiar with.Friedman saying on Hockey Central today that Pitt has serious interest in Drury for the GM job.
If had of played with Team Canada I think...although it was never a guarantee ...I would say he would have had a MUCH better start in NY . Guys like him are thoroughbreds and they NEED to be playing a lot to have it all going . Remember...he likely played 25 minutes a night on average in Junior for the last two years and who knows what before that....they are racehorses and they LOVE to RUN ....or in his case...skate .Everyone develops at their own pace. Kakko moved continents as an 18 year old.
Lafreniere is a in a completely different situation than any other first round pick. You cannot just pretend that no hockey in 10 months, a two week camp and no exhibition games has not had any effect on a 19 year old rookie. That is a material reason for ANYONE to struggle. And it is not like he is struggling. He is not on the scoresheet. If some of the vets pulled their heads out of their tukhuses, he would have had some points. And Kakko wuld have more.
I wonder what Bobbop thinks on him ? The kid has only played about one seasons worth of games in the last 2+ years....progressed well in junior I assume until hurt? ....numbers were increasing .I really would like it if NYR would look into the cost for barrett hayton. kid is getting buried on the 4th like playing low minutes. This is a guy with top 6 center upside and he is playing 4th line wing. Wonder if there would be a way to pry him out of there...
He has a very movable deal in 3-4 years. That’s considering what/ if there are cap increases, any emergence of our younger guys like Chytil, Bernard, etc maybe someone coming out of no where with a 2nd, 3rd, 4th rd pick?? With the foundation this team has on the wings, in net, and on D I think the front office really doesn’t want to commit to zibby long term. He can be streaky at times, is not a proven leader( put DJing before training in Ottawa until he matured a little), and he has a concussion history that would make them wary of a long term deal to say the least. JD and Gorts are watching the Eichel and Barkov situations very closely. The plan is to obtain 1 through trade or FA over resigning Zibby. You can take that to the bank. Eichel would cost a lot for sure, but if rangers keep stacking the cupboard it won’t hurt as bad as many think. Especially if he Demands out and the dressing room turns into a circus with an unhappy captain.
That does not explain how he has gotten better each yearContract year?![]()
It’s both. If you are paying a guy whose primary value is PP1 QB, and he isn’t in that role, he is overpaid.Wasted cap space is buyouts, Jack Johnson, and bad players. It's not 5M for the 4th leading 5v5 scoring among dmen last year. Having two guys similar on PP1 is a good thing. It gives you insurance. If Tony scores 40 pts/year because he's playing PP2 as opposed to 55 if he was playing PP1 that doesn't make him any less valuable. The sum of him and Fox will remain roughly equivalent.
That may be the case. However, I do not think that the Rangers were willing to take any chances on him getting hurt.If had of played with Team Canada I think...although it was never a guarantee ...I would say he would have had a MUCH better start in NY . And how has his 5v5 offense been this season? His primary value is not PP1 QB. It's 5v5 offense. He also is good on the PP. So is Fox. Fox/DeAngelo can be relatively interchangeable on the PP so having both is good. DeAngelo and whatever RD would replace him are not going to be remotely interchangeable.

And then quality of overall play factors in. Missed the boat. It’s both. If you are paying a guy whose primary value is PP1 QB, and he isn’t in that role, he is overpaid.

But how is his 5v5 offense this season? Could it be that he is being demoted due to lack of production rather than spreading the wealth? It's four games.
The Rangers haven’t let Drury interview for these positions right? Can’t imagine they’d want him to go in division
although at some point if they keep denying his requests to interview he may get pissed
