Meh. Players waive clauses when their current team makes it clear they aren’t in their future plans. Especially UFA to be players.

It limits destinations, but if Mika is going to be dealt it will be as a rental at this point i.e. interested parties will be contenders so I doubt it will be an issue.

But realistically given that they felt comfortable going long term w Kreider, barring a major injury or acquiring a legit 1C replacement like Eichel, I expect they will just extend Zibanejad. No org depth at C and a clear expectation that the “rebuild” / asset accumulation phase is ended.

A big problem with the lack of production is the PP. The stats are not good and they are also overly good.

The idea that Strome should be on the top PP is dumb. It’s imposed to create more of a shooting unit, but it’s of course not that simple and forces our players to make way too many low percentage cross ice passes that every PK knows are coming. If you are going to play with an outside handed shooter on the PP that player must stand higher up ice or he will be cut off. Almost like 3Ds.

Buch or Kakko should be there.

Why are Kakko seing less PP time than Strome?

Chytil didn't practice today. Still hard to tell but assuming it was upper body? Wrist? arm?

I figured one or neither would be resigned after signing Panarin and Trouba.

The Kredier signing was before winning the lottery so i’m thinking Zibby is gone b/c both Laf and Kappo will likely command a lot. Fox looks good and obviously Miller. What to do with Buch?

Meanwhile, I can see multiple young players being moved out for a center come next season followed by Zibby walking. The roster is what it us for this year which, honestly, should play better than they’ve demonstrated this year.

to me buch is a no brainer to resign and keep. Especially the way he is playing now. He is driving the play. If u can get him for a 5x5 type contract that would be amazing.

the key is not to give a nmc or or ntc just in case.

He is becoming even more valuable now that he is pking too

Taking a G in the first round is questionable as it is. Couple that with the desperate need for a C and the fact that we don't have a second round pick and IDK, I just wouldn't do it.
They will (or should) not be in position for someone like Bieners. Probably not Wallatedt either. But I would have ZERO issues if he was their pick.

Really excited for Fox, Lindgren, and Miller. Trouba is good too. I just don't like his contract.
ADA needs to step up. Raise that trade value if anything.
We're looking at keeping just two of Jones, Robertson and Lundkvist, Schneider.

It’s tough b/c they signed Kreider. Buch the #1 tied up, have to keep Kappo as the #2, then you have Gauthier for line 3. Kravtsov is a line 4 guy or trade him for a center? With what money if they move cheap Kravtsov?

Rough

Probably our most exciting forward the last week and gonna be out due to injury. Also have no idea what is wrong with him. Sounds about right.

Goalies are always gonna grump after bad games.

Question is does he have the mental fortitude to put in the work it will take to improve?

I think he'll be fine, but that quote makes it clear he is lacking confidence which kinda blows coming from a goalie.

Nothing against Georgiev but I feel like Igor needs to play through his issues, sitting after every bad game won't do him any favors.

If the goal is to make the playoffs in this extremely truncated season, I think you've got to go with the lineup that you think gives you the best chance to win every game.

If Georgy can repeat last season's trend of 3 great games to every 1 stinker, I think thats him rn.

Realistically you're just going to see Howden bumped to 3C and Rooney handling 4C

BOYS, IT'S TIME.....

Kreider Zibs Buch
Panarin Strome Howden
PDG Laf Kakko

Haha, wouldn't suprise me which is either funny or sad. Or both. But I'd be lying if I said trying Laf at C didn't cross my mind briefly last night.

Howden played with Kreider and Buch during camp and looked decent right?

I know it doesnt mean much because who knows wtf we were doing during camp but...

Laf-Zib-Kakko
Panarin-Strome-PDG
Kreider-Howden-Buch
LemieuxBlackwell-Rooney/Gauthier.
I think Howden would help the top6 tbh.

He is willing to grind it out and he's looked much quicker. Ironically, Quinn uses him less when he looks good.
