If I'm the Rangers, I'm looking really hard at drafting Jesper Wallstedt with our 1st this year if it's in the 8-14 range, which is where it looks like we're going to end up. It's not the end of the world if we do, but I was hoping to be in playoff contention this season with next season starting the contending window. Shesterkin has done little to instill confidence that he's the guy for the next decade so far this season.

There's still too much dead weight on this team. Strome, Smith, and Johnson all need to go and be replaced. Zibanejad is playing like he's recovering from COVID. I give him a pass there. Don't know WTF is wrong with Kreider and Panarin. I thought the former trained at Prentiss this past summer? He looks turrible. Panarin looks like he's been drinking vodka in quarantine and hadn't laced up the skates between Game 3 against Carolina and January 3rd when training camp opened. He just looks out of shape and slow.

Lafreniere is so snake bitten. You can see the ability there but he looks like someone that's afraid of making a mistake, as is Kakko. Where is the confidence that they had in their draft years when they looked like line drivers? Is it the coaching?

Dude it's been THREE f***ING GAMES FOR SHESTERKIN!!!!!! And he only played poorly in two of them. Hank allowed 3.6 goals on average the first 10 games of his sophomore season. This hot take is f***ing embarrassing.

I just had a nightmare that Lias Andersson has more goals/points than Alexis Lafreniere

Its early, but Lafreniere lack of production is concerning

It's the least concerning thing we have going. Panarin, Strome, Zibanejad, Kreider and Deangelo are all way more concerning. Lafreniere played his 5th game in the nhl, these guys are supposed to be insulating him to get him accustomed to the league and they collectively are laying an egg. When these guys get gong the game will become easier for everyone.

I'd have to go and watch those 10 games and the quality of what was being thrown at him. The Rangers, this year, have actually been defending pretty well. Two of those goals last night didn't look great and, honestly, he doesn't look sure of himself.

I'd agree with your sentiment, however, that it's far to early to plan on drafting another goalie or bailing on Igor in any way, shape, or form.

It’s still a growing year. Lets see what we have at the end of the season and go from there. If they’re out of the playoffs, there’s Strome, tda, smith to move at the deadline. But before we go there, see where they’re at in 10 games. Sometimes it takes a while to right the ship. If we had hot goaltending right now, we would be singing a different song. Hang in there.

Get off the bridge Shesterkin will be fine, the lack of exhibition games and the long time between when he was in a regular hockey schedule is the issue.
Carter Hart is also playing like crap and smashing sticks over crossbars...so let's relax and wait a few weeks before we lose our s#it!

Just a slow start.

The 14 game mark will be a much better indicator. That's 1/4 of the shortened season. Normally that would be the 20 game mark.

I truly believe the club will turn it around by then and figure out how to start winning games.

Kreider has a no movement until 2023-24. Cap hit of $6.5 million until 2027-28. If he plays every game and only shows up once every 8-10, yikes. Well, at least he can jump out of pools.

Shesterkin is going to be 26. I don't think it's at all unreasonable to draft a blue chip 18 year old goalie prospect, especially in what's looking to be a pretty weak draft.

Nah. It's more than the #'s this early into a players career. The offense as a whole hasn't clicked yet. Give the kid a large chunk of time to come into his own. He hasn't looked out of place out there, and it wouldn't be fair to expect him to immediately adapt to the pace of the NHL.

Would totally depend on the contract but psoitionally McDonagh would really fix a lot of whats wrong with our d, but if we're talking with their contracts, Hayes.

Yeah I think sans contracts McDonagh is the answer. Still do need to trade for a top 6 young center.

I think basically everyone here knew that Kreiders contract was a ticking time bomb the moment he signed.

just nobody realized that it could start the first year.

he has been putrid and should be benched for a game to get his head out of his ass

a lot of chirping before and at the deadline for the reasons above. Lot of spirited debate. The rebuild, the cap, etc. He and others should be playing better regardless.
