IF Miller with Trouba pair works out of the gate it would make a positive impact across all pairs:

Miller - Trouba
Lindgren - Fox
Smith - ADA
JJ
Hajek and Reunanen getting reps on the taxi squad and AHL

i think we need bitteto to play 6 games this year for expansion draft purposes. So he will make the team just for that

Wish Laf was being noticeable in camp, the reports in every scrimmage are basically he hasn't stood out. I guess he's saving it for his 5 goal NHL debut Thursday :naughty:
One also needs to remember just how long it has been since he has been in a real game. It has been a really long time. It will take him some time to get going. To what extent, we shall see. He is a 19 year old rookie.

Many thanks everyone for all the kind words! This place and every single poster on it are the best!
Your family certainly has a lot on their plate at this time . I will say a prayer for him . Thank you for sharing your journey.... keep us updated !!!

Yup, we see it at F, D or G but D is the most vulnerable position

The weird thing with our Defense is that it's also going to be the area with a ton of transition over a relatively short span.

We had two rookies last year (Lindgren and Fox), along with Trouba coming in. This year it looks like Miller is a given. So right there, that's half the defense.

Then you have guys like Robertson and Lundkvist visible on the horizon. I'm also one of those people who think Schneider could be closer than not. So without factoring in any other names, or potential trades, you're talking about up to a 100 percent turnover in as little as 3 years.

I think that lots depends on how and what Miller does this year. I am surprised that it appears that he will open with Trouba. Not a guarantee that he will stay there. Let's see what he does with the opportunity. Hopefully, like Fox last year, he can take the ball and run with it.

The news about Miller sound great. Just what we need, another kid ready to step in! Smith is the last anchor left, I feel.

Miller - Trouba pair sounds like it could be filthy to play against. Like fishboats flanked by two warships, pulverized. The admiralty is pleased.

Depending on how fast our young defense develops, we'll be shooting up the power rankings.

Build from the back end out and then up the middle and the rest should sort itself out with some tuning as needed . Like was said a few days back ....the next couple of drafts are still very key for the long term success of this club to keep adding and substituting the bottom 6 spots on the roster...Penguins did quite well with this over the years to keep their window open for long enough to grab 3 Cups....drafting very important and every now and then you find a nugget in the pile . We should have scouts coming out the ass in our organization and the best coaching outside the NHL on the farm teams ....that money is above and beyond the Cap....so get at it Rangers !!!!!

I remember expecting D to shape up earlier than forwards but with our draft luck and signing Panarin it looks like it will all come together at the same time, maybe even F core a bit faster.

That's one bad mother... the right one is straight up pimp mode or after the Zucc trade, depending on when the pictures where taken.
The one on the left I found on google, but the one on the right was posted on the Rangers Instagram recently along with pictures of other Rangers.

Let's see how this works first before we jump for joy. I mean it certainly is great news as it means that his camp is going great. But this is still a young kid who is learning his position, let alone the pro game. Looking great in a shortened camp and in a scrimmage is not the same thing as a regular game. Let's put it this way, to quote agent Mulder, "I want to believe". But like him, I need to see some evidence.

There is no doubt that we need to accepting of rookie mistakes from Miller. It's something some people around here are going to need to be constantly and consistently reminded of.

Just because the guy beat out two 6-7 caliber defenseman and a guy playing out of position doesn't mean he's going to be high quality out of the gate and it ABSOLUTELY doesn't mean he's going to maintain the same quality for even a 56 game season.

I'll be thrilled if Miller plays the majority of the 56 games this season in the NHL. Even if he is paired with Trouba, we know they will look to shelter him a little bit where possible. That may mean some shifts of Smith-Trouba against certain competition or Lindgren-Fox playing against other teams top lines.

If Miller can solidify himself as an up and coming NHL d-man this year and someone like Howden can solidify himself as a NHL center, that would be HUGE for the depth moving forward. That doesn't even discus Lafreniere, Kaako, Chytil and Gauthier who we are all hoping solidify themselves.

It's a little crazy that DeAngelo is longest tenured full-time Rangers defenseman... and that tenure is all of 2 seasons.

With Miller/Trouba looking good and ADA/Trouba looking good, and with JJ and Smith being the only other options after Lindgren/Fox, I wonder if the plan is to mostly double-shift Trouba.

No surprises here. Didnt think Barron did enough from reports. Hajek is quickly falling out of favor.

Likely smith or jj and ada.
Trouba gets pk time with jj or smith.
Miller likely doesn’t get pk until he earns it.

With the asset gathering that Gorton has done, Hajek is one of several young players that are and will continue to face an "up or out" situation.

I would think that with the shortened and condensed schedule along with the possibility of players missing some time with the virus a real possibility, teams will be looking to spread out ice time where possible

My hope with Miller is that if he starts to get his head caved in Quinn doesn’t force the issue and keep him up with the big team just because

That’s a good way to ruin a prospect.

We haven’t sent anything happening at camp so my opinion is basically useless but I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t be more comfortable with Miller spending the year in Hartford
