Why don’t you get a clue. It wouldn’t have mattered if he waived then because no one would have taken that contract without retaining. Stop complaining about Henrik freaking Lundqvist.

Stop guessing what the trade market was for Hank since the letter to the fans came out.

DQ is terrible.
I still can't wrap my head around him running the show along with a mediocre babysitter.
The decision making by JG just blows my mind..
He's like this weird mix of AV and Torts but their worst qualities.

He's got the whole Torts mentality of "I'm going to reward bad players for looking like they're trying hard" when really, they're chasing after the puck super hard because they never have it.

Meanwhile he's got the AV gameplan of "let's not forecheck/cycle at all and play human video games."

So he wants to do the whole grit thing while the gameplan simultaneously bans physicality. It's really weird.

How is this related to anything I said in my post?

"We have lot of expensive wings and our top prospects are wings. That is always going to be the driving force of this team unless someone is moved."

The point is.. Having strong wings is great but without strong centers to support them, you don't have a winning team..

Ah. Well that’s completely different. Also, it’s wrong. I was under the impression that was already shown with the Blackhawks dreadful center depth in their 3 Cup wins.

Kane is a generational talent and carried the 2nd line by himself.
Panarin is no Kane.
Different circumstances and different team.
There's no comparison..

While I agree that center depth is something to strive for, let's not forget that the Blackhawks won three Cups with an absolute hodgepodge of random 2C's that would be 4th liners on some teams. That's because their wings were insane.

I'm not saying Lafreniere will be Kane nor am I saying that Zibanejad is Peak Toews (Peak Toews has become very overlooked and underrated) but it is possible to build a wing-centric dynasty.

But I also think you need at least 1 very good center.

If Mika takes another blow to the head, who knows?

I just want a Lundell type on board and I’ll shut up.

Using that generational tag too loosely here IMO.

Whaaa? I dunno about that. At the very least last year’s Panarin was probably in the discussion with any given Kane year.

You're right to say that Mika's injury history is a concern. Is that something I run out to address now? Probably not. But it's something to watch as his contract comes up.

I won't comment on Kane's early years since Panarin wasn't here but he's had a better five years than Kane since he came into the NHL.

I know Kane won a Hart, but Panarin was on pace for 112 points this year which is more than Kane ever put up and Panarin has always been more complete and more consistent.

Kane is a superstar but to call him generational is bit disrespectful to Keith who is a first-ballot Hall of Famer and Toews who probably should be even though he's kind of a meme on this site.

Toews low-key has 141 points in his last 152 games and remember, that's him being "bad." It's ironic that he ends up on most overrated lists considering he's actually one of the more underrated players on HF at this point.

Here's what I would consider to be Toews best seasons versus Crosby the same years:

Quinn's first year the offense was entirely dump, chase, cycle, point shots with guys in front. Zero east/west play.

Down the memory hole.

I’d go for Tyler Johnson at 50% retained, especially if doing so brought back a pick or prospect. He’ll have value at 2.5 million, could be flipped.

I don’t think anyone has a shot at either Cirelli or Sergachev anyways, there are a number of things TB can and would do before they deal either of them.

The letter to fans went out how many years ago? Enough for the entire roster to be moved which you obviously missed. He never waived his NTC dating back longer than apparently you are aware. Yikes, right back ya.

I’m fully aware of the timeline and what has occurred. It’s only been 2.5 years. What you’re failing to comprehend is that Hank wasn’t going anywhere via trade. It was always buyout or retirement. You’re complaining about a $1.5M cap hit....

It’s not a guess. Stop whining about a hall of famer who carried the franchise for over a decade.

Like you said make in May

“I’m so incredibly delusional and think maybe one day he’ll still get a cup (starter or backup). Unfortunately, I don’t think my delusions will stop until he retires”

Eli Manning won two Super Bowls too.

another delusion. It’s not a $1.5 million dollar cap hit. Hank wasn’t going anywhere b/c he never waived his NTC clause.
